anyone know of a soundclash movie/doc.

im looking for the name of a particular movie/documentary about the 70's dub/soundclash days. Does anyone know? I'd be interested in others that people might know of too.
thx.

you're probably looking for "rockers". the pic's not from the movie, but the guys in it bought their hats at the same haberdashery as several of the artists in "rockers".

"heartland reggae" is a good documentary from the same golden era, and is also available with "rockers" at most places that sell dvd's. i'm not really sure about live videos from the seventies, but there are several sites on the net where you can get live yard tapes (jamaican raves) going back to the early seventies.

here's a link to a live audio recording, from portmore, ja 1979, of the era's undisputed ruler king stur gav sound featuring deejays daddy u roy, josey wales, charlie chaplin, coulour ranking and selector inspector willie.

as far as clash goes, there has been sound competetions in yard since the 50's, but the serious killing business didn't begin until sounds started getting artists to call their names (and trash their opponents) on dubplates in the early to mid eighties. it was then that soundclashes took on the technical nature and rules of other popular blood sports.

video and audio recordings are made of most big clash dances now, and have been for the last decade, which you can get at most places that sell reggae / dancehall records or related merchandise.
