He's an excellent DJ and producer... here is a bio on him. LC Little Mike's Musical Style: Dirty, filthy and nasty house and tech-house in the big rooms. Deep, head nodding house music in the smaller rooms. Tripped out, bizarre and futuristic house and tech-house in the wee hours of the morning at a strange afterparty where Mike doesn't know where he is, or who he is partying with... hehehe.. basically, Little Mike likes to cover a wide spectrum of dance music, depending on the room and the situation. It's always gonna sound fresh, and his mixing is gonna be clean and creative. Here's what Little Mike is up to: The Church: (11th and Lincoln) (1998-present) Little Mike has held down a weekly Thursday night residency alongside Wyatt Earp at Denver's largest nightclub, The Church. Holding down this residency for 5 years, Mike has played sets for crowds reaching 1500 . He has worked alongside a plethora of superstar DJs, including Sasha, Lee Burridge, Richie Hawtin, Luke Slater, Dave angel, Danny Howells, Seb Fontaine, DJ Dan, DJ Sneak, Josh Wink, etc, (too many to list). Basically, whatever DJ is on tour at the moment stops in Denver, and Little Mike gets to rock out with 'em. Sweat records: (2229 Larimer St.) (June 2003-present) Little Mike works as the retail dance music buyer for Denver's premier DJ shop, Sweat Records (2229 Larimer St. Denver co. 80205). Here, Mike is in charge of getting the hottest records into the shop. Working as the music buyer for sweat records gives Mike the opportunity to stay on top of what is happening in the music world. The shop just recently opened its doors (June 7th, 2003), and is doing excellent. To contact Mike regarding anything related to retail music, please email him at sweatrecordsdenver@hotmail.com. Phrunky Recordings: (2003-present) Alongside label partner, Ty Tekavec (Ty Tek), Little Mike runs his own record label, which is already gaining momentum and receiving acclaim from the worlds top DJs and producers. To contact anyone at Phrunky recordings, please email us at phrunky@aol.com. Casa Del Soul: (2000-present) Near the beginning of 2000, Mike joined the Casa Del Soul Crew. This collective consists of five other DJs/producers: Sense', Catt, Wyatt Earp, Ty Tek and Foxx. The Casa Del Soul collective work together as DJs and hold down numerous residencies both in Denver and abroad. Casa Del Soul is also a record label, with 14 releases to date that have received critical acclaim and praise from both the press, and international DJs. With the label, Mike has had three releases thus far. These releases have received excellent reviews in dance magazines like Muzik and Mixer, and have been licensed to mix CDs from Lee Burridge (Global Underground Nu-breed), Doc Martin (Fabric mix), and Silicon Soul, amongst others. His "Breakfast Of Champions" release was also featured on John Digweed's Kiss FM mix in a previous show. To contact anyone at Casa Del Soul records, please email: casadelsoul@msn.com. Red Monkey Lounge: (19th and Market St.) (2000-present) This venue is considered Denver's little secret gem by many house music lovers. The Red Monkey Lounge is a nice relaxed room where Mike keeps the music deep and bumpin'. He holds down this weekly residency each and every Saturday night to a room full of people who want to relax, and bounce around to some straight up house music. Previous work: Phrunky @ Snake Pit: (13th and Washington) (April 1999 - June 2002) Phrunky was Denver's first true tech-house weekly. Held in one of Denver's true underground clubs, the Snake Pit, Phrunky attracted crowds who were looking for fresh sounds and strong drinks. Promoted and organized by Little Mike, Phrunky was focused on the up front sounds of house and tech-house, with a focus on having a blast, and not trying to be the "coolest" club in town. The club night showcased each and every record release for Casa Del Soul records, and brought fresh DJs that had never been to Denver before, including Mazi, Jay Tripwire, Randall Jones, Deep C, Kenneth Graham, Pete Bones, etc. Phrunky inspired Mike's record label, as well as gave him his first taste in promoting parties that focused on primarily the newest music, most influential DJs, and nothing else. Club Vinyl: (June 2002 -Semi-present) After the closure of Phrunky @ the Snake Pit, Mike moved the party to the basement of Club Vinyl (1082 Broadway), and created a party unlike anything Denver had seen before. His main focus was the music, and nothing else. Each week, Mike would keep the lights turned off, set up tripped out visual screens, and played nothing but raw dance music with DJ partner Ryan Jaqua. On a monthly basis, Mike also promoted a series of parties entitled "The Basement Sessions". These parties included DJs such as Dave Mothersole, Mazi, Ralph Lawson, as well as local DJs who were playing the truly underground dance music. The weekly was a huge success, and the buzz of each basement sessions spread across the state, attracting Denver's serious dance music lovers. Due to the blizzard of 2003 causing the collapse of the club, Mike's residency is on hiatus until its scheduled re-opening near October of this year, but plans to keep the party going are definite. Casa Del Soul Records (the shop) (1998-2003) Before the blizzard of 2003 caused the destruction of Casa Del Soul Records, Mike assisted in sales and music buying directly in the store. He also gained excellent work experience with Casa Del Soul Records, in both retail, and having an understanding for the music industry in general. R.I.P., as Casa Del Soul Records was the foundation for all that Mike has achieved today. Some very recent stuff outside of Denver: 1015 Folsom: Spundae: (San Fransisco) w/ Dave Ralph, Jonathan Ojeda, etc. Sapphire Lounge: (New York City) w/ DJ Disciple. Café ovaciento: (New York City) w/ David Hollands, DJ Sense? Open Air: (New York City) w/ 112 Crew /DJ Sense'. Red Bull Dragon Boat Race: (some crazy camping thang in Pennsylvania) Element Bar: (Toronto) w/ Stretch & Hooker, Tim Patrick, Myka, Ty Tek. Marlin Hotel: (Miami) w/ Pete Bones, Jody (Way Out West), Casa Del Soul. Future Fest: (Atlanta) w/ BT, Junior Sanchez, Casa Del Soul, etc. Discography: Little Mike and Ty Tek: Casafied Modern Music pt.2: Casa Del Soul Records Little Mike and Wyatt Earp: Android: Hochokai Records Little Mike: Breakfast Of Champions: Casa Del Soul Records Slade Styles (Little Mike & Sense?): Ding Bling: Casa Del Soul Records Little Mike and Ty Tek: Strange Vacation: Phrunky Recordings Little Mike: Dirty Pusherman: Phrunky Recordings |
