ABOUT DJ SWAMP:

Swamp began mastering his DJ skills more than 15 years ago. In 1996, his rookie year, he took the title of USA DMC CHAMPION. Being true to his nature in an arena that was predominantly influenced by a very hip hop-esque culture, Swamp stepped up to the decks looking like some kind of junky punk. He was well received by the audience despite his counter-culture appearance because he exhibited skills that defied perception and already possessed a stage presence that many of his contemporaries still lacked. The finale came when he closed his set by freakin' Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water' and then smashing his records.

Notorious for mischief, while he's on the turntables his shows are highly anticipated by those who know that they can expect to see something spectacular.

Although he's a hip-hop/d&b artist, his demeanor and appearance are closer to that of a metal head. He has been referred to as "the Sid Vicious of the DJ's", and has been known to have violent on-stage fits more characteristic of a rock star than of a hip-hop turntablist. While it's easy to compare him to rock/punk legends, in the world of DJ's he stands alone. Roguish behaviors such as: breaking his records then cutting himself with the fragmented remains; spitting fire; and performing cunnilingus on diamond-tipped phonograph needles really only provides the frame work to showcase what those that are in the 'know' recognize as extraordinary turntable skills. Breakbeats, scratching, juggling, and mutilating LPs and vinyl without losing the beat are all a part of a day at the 'office' for Swamp. Sometimes they end with a trip to the hospital: "I had to go to the hospital in Phoenix recently with second-degree burns," Swamp said from his publicist's office in New York. "I lit my hand on fire and then blew fire on it and basically became a blow torch. I don't use fire retardant or anything because this is low budget. Dude, I'm just a fire retard."

For four years DJ swamp toured as a member of beck's band. Immediately following his decision to depart from the band, swamp released his solo debut album, 'never is now' and toured to back the release. His decision to go out on his own gave him just the independence that he was looking for and opened up the avenue to self-expression that both he and the fans were seeking.

DJ Swamp has graced the pages of: Rolling Stone, Spin, Subculture, Raygun, Mean, DJ Times, Keyboard, Rap Sheet, Mixer, Rap Pages, The LA Times, and Urb.

Urb magazine says "Witnessing Swamp torture the 1200's is like watching a magic show."

ABOUT CHRIS CARTER:

Musician Producer and DJ, Chris Carter learnt his engineering skills whilst at the legendary ON U SOUND working with the likes of ADRIAN SHERWOOD, LITTLE AXE, ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION, AUDIO ACTIVE and BIM SHERMAN.

Since branching out to produce his own music in 1997, beginning with a release on a Guy Called Gerald’s Juice Box imprint, he has released a steady stream of tough but musical breaks on the UK breaks scene.

Chris Carter was responsible (with BLIM) for one of the break scenes biggest vocal tracks featuring the vocal talents of Shara Nelson as Kasha on ’U’. Since then he’s had tunes on TCR, Botchit Scarper , Forged and BLIMs Track Records, earning him a reputation as the master of well-crafted dancefloor tunes.

DJ fans of Carter include Rennie Pilgrem, BLIM, Laurent Garnier, Adam Freeland, Terminalhead, Hybrid, Hyper and Koma Bones to name but a few. Carter is often to be found in Rennie Pilgrems studio where his drumming and beat programming skills are called upon to augment Pilgrems remixes. His tracks have been included on the ‘Botchit Breaks’ albums, ’Modernizm’ mixed by BLIM, ‘Nu Breed’ mixed by Lee Burridge, Y4K mixed by Koma&Bones and TCR50. Chris Carter has collaborated with BLIM on a track for his debut album and is working on material with Vlad from Breakneck aswell as new solo material for release on TCR. He has also just completed a remix for the Cup of Chi label, a new track called ‘BottyFunk’ for En:Vision and is in the process of making more tunes for Secret Agent – on a down tempo tip. He’s just teamed up with JHz to form ‘Rockziller’ and they’re about to release the incredible ‘Exorcist / Fear’ on TCR. This tune is quite simply massive so expect to hear a lot more from them soon!

Chris has now established himself as a popular DJ and has toured all over Europe aswell as the USA and Australia. His mixes have been heard on radio stations such as Radio1, Kiss, Galaxy, Ministry, Groovetech and stations all over the world.

ABOUT CARBON COMMUNITY:

Since launching onto the scene in 2003 with a release on the U.S. label Moonshine Music, the Carbon Community, aka Dave Cannon, hasnt sat still. Over the last three years, Dave has found himself working with labels Bless Records, Dorigen Music UK, Blue Plasma, Renaissance, Stellar Music, and in 2004 launched his own label Sober Music.

Along with writing under the Carbon Community alias, Dave has also found himself collaborating with fellow Texan, Son of the Electric Ghost under the surname loBudg. Combining both melodic passages with glitched out edits and heavy bass, the Carbon Community has found his niche, and continues to deliver his unique sound to crowds around the globe.

Coming from a live music background, the Carbon Community adds that element of excitement to every one of his performances. Merging live drums, live synthesizers, and on occasion live vocals, the Carbon Community has mesmerized audiences from his home town of Dallas, to the Love Parade in San Francisco, the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and all the way to Englands infamous night of breaks, Trigger.

Bringing his own original music that is as equally stimulating to the mind as it is the body, the Carbon Community has become one of Americas top live acts, and continues to push the envelope for live electronic music. Over the last few year, Dave has found himself sharing the stage with some of electronic music's best, such as, Prodigy, Hybrid, Uberzone, Future Funk Squad, and Public Enemy, and shows no signs of slowing down.

September 2006 will see the release of his highly anticipated debut album. The album has already started to create a buzz in the electronic music world, and the reactions that it has recieved thus far have been fantastic! Don't just take our word for it though:

James Zabiela Renaissance / Thrive
"I'm loving your electronic breaks gubbins that you gave me. Awesome."

Elite Force Adrift, Kingsize, TCR, W9Y, Fused & Bruised
Nice productions! - it's always good to hear people pushing the boundaries a little!

Uberzone TCR, Astralwerks, Distinctive, Moonshine, Equation
"Carbon Community comes correct on this all-phat-no-filler debut long player. Twisted beats and big bass collide for pure breakbeat nirvana. If you haven't checked out the live set... do, it's quite a treat too!"

Aquasky Passenger, 777
"I was feeling it for sure. It was very deep and melodic which is totally what I am into. As an L.P.... SPOT ON MATE!!!"

Myagi West, Splank, Money Shot, Pure Phunk, FBSS, Howlin
"Nice one man! Great work as per usual!"

The set that Chris Carter played last time he was in Dallas was off the hook. Can't remember the date, but it was the show with Kelsey, me, Chris, and Adam Freeland at the Lizard Lounge.

He had that place moving.

I am going to go ahead and assume he is gonna blow the roof off.

I'm excited to see Swamp play as well. I've never seen him, but obviously have heard the stories!

The Carbon Community set is going to be a bit differnet this time around. About once a year I get out and do my yearly DJ set, so this is the time!

So come out and check out what music inspires me. Expect a bunch of wicked tunes and lots of effects, chops, and my own re-edits, all live. Should be loads of fun. I know last year when I did this at the Lizard Lounge, it was a blast!

See ya on Saturday!
