You've probably been loving it longer than you think. This guy has been behind the scenes on a ton of things we all know & love. He is responsible for a lot of the uncredited shelter remixes which I wasn't aware of until the past few weeks.

BIO

Armed with a passion for the arts, Ian Friday is on a creative mission. This New Yorker has been seen on stage and film and has performed throughout NYC as a poet.

In 1994 he founded a nonprofit arts organization called the Tea Party which provided a platform for upcoming and established artists such as Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Saundra St. Victor, Vernon Reid, Corey Glover, Saul Williams, The Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and the Last Poets. The Tea Party also featured one of the hottest and well respected open mics in NYC as well as a party with Ian at the deejay helm.

Ian is spreading his wings in music. He has worked closely with Blaze, doing alternate mixes on the "Natural Blaze" album, remixing their song "We Are One" on King Street Records and producing their first mixed cd "The Found Love Mix CD" on West End Records. Ian's original production, "Renewal" is on the 2004 Southport Weekender Compilation. His release on West End Records entitled "The Island Life EP" featured one of the hottest records in the dance music scene today, "Carib's Leap". This Afro-Caribbean song is being played by the major deejays from around the world including Louie Vega, Kevin Hedge, Danny Krivit and Osunlade to name a few. Ian's freshly released remix of Marcus Enochson's "Listen for It" on Ricanstruction Records is also on the playlists of the top deejays. The Tea Party Music label was launched in the spring of 2006 with Ian's original productions featuring Erro, Corey Glover, Kelli Sae, Byron Moore, Shelley Nicole, and much more.

With good music abound, the deejay side of Ian Friday has been heard for years at major clubs in NYC. He has played several times at Louie Vega and Kevin Hedge's wildly popular weekly party, "Roots" at Club Cielo. He has also done several guest spots at Timmy Regisford's legendary "Shelter" party. Mr. Friday's dance mix has been also heard throughout New York Radio; WRKS (Kiss Club Classics), WBAI (The Liquid Sound Lounge), WNYC (The Candy Shop). Now, this Renaissance man can be heard internationally on his biweekly internet program, "Tea Party Music Live" on CyberJamz Radio Wednesdays 3-6pm EST.

Ian Friday launched his own label, TEA PARTY MUSIC, in the spring of 2006, featuring his original productions and features Erro, Corey Glover, Kelli Sae, Byron Moore and Shelley Nicole. First up for Tea Party Music is the smash single Life Starts Today with Byron Moore on the vocals. Stay tuned to this incredibly talented DJ, producer, song writer, and poet!
