![]() | How successful would a night club be...
How successful would a 5000 square foot night club be if it were located in Denton near the UNT and TWU college campuses? I'm interested in opening a venue for people far from Dallas where people can pay a $5 cover and hear good progressive, breaks and trance sets. Flyers passed out at the schools would probably be my main advertising route at first. Does anyone have any ideas on how to gauge the success of this idea? All advice is appreciated : )

i think you should start by checking the demo graphic of the amount of people in the college that listen to EDM. i think you'll find that there will be more people who will listen to hip hop/ top 40's. so instead of making it strictly for EDm you may want to consider, making it for all types of music.. 5000 sq ft. is just big enough to do decent amount of business, enough to also do a good headliner.. I think you should look at all your overhead before you do it though.. Just as a word of caution. i have owned 3 clubs and only two of them were successfull.. good luck on your project!

Don't waste your money. Denton is weird about dance music. What I have experienced at different house parties I have done up here is that people actually DO like house music, but they don't know it. Like if you were to ask someone "Do you like house?" they would say no, but then get into it at the party. But who knows, you may get all the frat boy types to come out for someone like Tiesto.

I'm thinking of putting it by south belle and mckinney street. I think that if it was open 4 days a week I would need an average of about 25 people per day to break even, unless I book tiesto. Thanks for all the input so far. Also I don't currently plan to sell alcohol, sort of like Afterlife, but I'm looking into the idea.

currently in america more college/high school/ people under 25 seem to be into emo/fake indie rock or hip hop than anything else..... my advice is start small with some people that like electronic music and grow it from there.

I have never owned or managed a public club before but I throw my own house party at least once a week. There is no door fee and no alcohol. I think I'm ready to get it out of my house and start advertising publicly. One of the people I want to help me afford and run the place has a lot of doubt about it being worth risking thousands of dollars with a 12 month lease. It's nice to hear what everyone thinks about this idea. Playing the top 40 songs at a massive volume is a scary thought... There are remixes of popular songs like the Redanka remix of U2's Vertigo, Adam Freeland remix of Nirvana's Smell's Like Teen Spirit, Quivver's remix of Led Zepplin's Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Hybrid's remix of Radiohead's Everything in It's Right Place and the list keeps going with Smashing Pumpkins, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Portishead, Prodigy, Queen, Chemical Brothers, Britney Spears, Apollo 440 etc. Do you think that the college crowd would like these recognizable songs?
