Dance music / KEGL / 1989 - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

Hello everyone...
I used to live in Dallas about 17 years ago. I was a kid then, and remember getting my first taste of real dance music when I was 10 years old. I stubled upon on a specialty program which was on a station known then as "97.1 The Eagle". Being it was nearly 20 years ago, and I have no recordings of the program, I came here to see if anyone remembers anything of the program.

The program came on at midnight, saturday nights (sunday mornings) and ran until 4 am on KEGL 97.1. I remember the music being acid house and techno. Does anyone know who the dj or djs were on that program? If I recall correctly it was live from some venue. Also does anyone happen to have any recording? I'd sure love to know, because my musical and club experiences today wouldn't be, if I hadn't discovered that broadcast.

Get ahold of Wild Bill Stanley. Thinkin he may have been the DJ over at Club A during that time frame you speak of.

I found your post here and I'm glad I'm able to help you. I'm Wild Bill Stanley and I was the DJ on that broadcast. I was the house DJ at Club "A" and our manager Eddie Gattus, negotiated the broadcast. This broadcast was the first in the area, so my meetings with the KEGL program director were numerous. He was afraid of giving up the music programming four four hours on a Saturday night. I usually played from an approved list up until 2:00am then I was pretty much on my own till 4:00am

I've looked for some tapes from the show but have lost the tapes I had. I believe a member of Dallas Dance Music, Holmes Davis, once posted that he had some tapes.

Right-o! Detour and Eden 2000 were its offshoots that I got to attend, but the feeling was ever there.

Without Mr. Stanley's musical assistance, I think I would still be a wallflower sitting down eating snacks from the kitchen that the club used to have.

I used to go to Detour with an ID I used to borrow from a stripper. heh

Eden 2000.. Was old enough to get in on my own ID then.. barely.
Saw Femme 2 Femme, and I saw Front 242 (or was it Nitzer Ebb??) at Eden 2000..

I remember Club A, but was young enough that a fake ID wasn't a believable alibi for a couple more years.

DISCLAIMER: Laws today are different than they were 15 years ago. DO NOT try this at home kids.
