I feel you homie, but you don't go to Taco Bell for ice cream you know? I can't expect you to recognize the subtle nuances and booking politics of the hip hop scene anymore than you can expect me to understand the same about the Trance scene. We all have our preferences and areas of expertise. I am speaking as someone who has booked over 300 hip hop events, hosted one of the longest running weeklies for live hip hop for almost 3 years, and an active person behind the scenes in the same way you are the dance scene for almost a decade now. There are a lot of homie hook ups and shit that comes along with that, apply it to your own relationships with the locals you have booked. The pull you have in that crowd came from years and years of paying dues and building solid business relationships. I can say you wouldn't get worked for cash the same way and it would be more relevant in the actual hip hop scene if you let me handle it (on the topic of a hip hop stage). Hey, what do I know though right? Good job on the event, it looks like a beast either way.

Like I said, I am open ears, send me some links and lets set it up for the future. As for being related to Just dance music, I would hope not, I for one am a dj of all genres. I believe the music speaks for itself, and the shows we have put together over the years. I hope my style never gets genrefied. I personally think that is what is wrong with the dallas scene. GENREFICATION and CREW CLICKS!! We need a platform for all crews to come together a few times a year and educate one another and build lasting relationships. Your local music scene consists of all artists and genres, so let's breed a new breed of understanding, and do something a little different!!

I couldn't agree more about genre barriers, hence my comments on events that don't represent the entire dallas music scene correctly. Genre doesn't have anything to do with relevance and proper representation within said musical styles though, that is subjective to preference or perhaps perception. I don't know what to tell you about the crew clicks, that's Dallas.

I am known for promoting, producing and distributing conscious North Texas hip hop , so believe me, I feel you on the gimmicks. That's the side of rap that often gives the rest of it a bad name. There are many paths to enlightenment, and for me, that path was taught within the HLAW and fundamental style elements of hip hop. That shit saved my life. Literally. My motivation to see these communities come together goes beyond self promotion though, I just want everyone to know that there is some really good stuff coming out of Texas that is recognized more in other states and countries than it is here. I think the exposure to both communities would be mutually beneficial. Both in terms of promotion for our respective artists but of course how fun it would be to see Headkrack or PPT chillin' next to James Meadows while watching a set by Shpongle or Infected Mushroom. They have been doing it on SoCal for the past 10 years with no problems, why can't we?

I've been back for over a year now. Inexposed? I can't wait to ask Skin, that sounds like it hurted... haha j/k

Prolifix is a battle DJ from LA btw, not a group. He's the dude that Q-Bert, D-Styles and Mixmaster Mike were standing around watching with their jaws dropped to the floor some years back at the NAAM Conferences. Dude is sick.

Hyphen Select was aight... like 5 years ago. Peep a dude named DJ Elements from AZ. That guy is crazy with the selection, flawless, fast and battle skills to boot.
