This show totally fucking ruled. Personalities aside Venetian Snares totally killed it. The people dissing on him will probably never be able to make music on his level. It would take me a week to program a 16 bar section of his music. Otto killed it to. Unlike a lot of laptop acts(me included) he actually puts on a show. The dancefloor morphed into a moshpit throughout the night. All of thge satisfaction of a good punk rock show from my youth through great groundbreaking electronic music.

we need breakcore in this town really bad.

Its called IDM... Intelligent Dance Music. But..you really can't dance to it, can you? Its like if I tried to dance to Hella or something. I don't dig it. Oh well. To Each their own.

IDM is what they called it way back in the 90's before it split up into a million sugenres(i.e minimal techno, Glitch hop, Dubstep, breakcore.....). Venetian Snares and Otto are both commonly associated with the Breakcore scene. If you don't know about that stuff follow the link and get educated. There are a lot of DJ's and electronic musicians that started out in Metal or Punk rock. My first rock concert for example was Black Flag(yes I am old). My life is electronic music nowadays, but it is very refreshing to be able to go to an electronic show and get the same adrenaline rush that I got when I was a kid. Venetian Snares has a very wide and diverse catalogue. Some of it is very "danceable". As is most "IDM". It's not all left field late period Autechre(which I still consider very danceable). I saw Oval years ago in Chcago performing with a modern dance troup. He does not even use beats and yet we were watching some amazing modern Dance to his music.
