Deep Ellum’s walls in this second installment of Re*Cov*Er Mural Series

On May 24th, from 7-10pm, we’ll hold an awards ceremony to announce this year’s winners. First place will receive $1000, second place $500, and $250 for third. The Happy Bullets and Baby Ruthless will preform and we will have a champagne toast. This evening will be free to the public.

The five finalists had one week to compete on Deep Ellum’s walls in this second installment of Re*Cov*Er Mural Series. You can view the progress of the murals of the following finalists at the respectable locations:

Kill the tunnel, spray a corner in its imitation.

I wish the event success, but am still jaded (obviously) by what prompted things to come to this manner.

Hopefully the art evokes something semi-reminiscent.

wow ,its the thought that counts, these artist are trying to re-create culture where it has been tore down. So I guess I won't see you there.

Yes and no. The Deep Ellum area isn't about to get levelled totally. They are doing art to go up in the DARTstation that will be housed where the tunnel used to be (if this is the same event/location that DART was trying to sponsor last year).

70% of deep ellum was bought by the same developers but they don't have much more that they plan on destroying they are already in the process of rebuilding what they want and what was recently painted on will mos def be there for years to come, so I will have a good time tonight being a part of that.
