glad to see you dug deeper than most nick.
I think Kali got a bad rap from the Thuggee cult not to mention Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Movie.

I have always known about Kali and how most people view her as a god of death and destruction. But was taught otherwise by the locals, Kali was considered a symbol of rebirth, or a new beginning. Also she was a symbol of leaving ones cluttered life behind for a new simple beginning. Similar to a Phoenix.

So it was wierd to see that Kali statues would be excluded from the alter.

The more I research, the less I understand the reasoning behind them excluding her from their alter at Gemini.

Another thing that was excluded was obsidian, which I really don't understand as it absorbs negative energy and transmutates it into positive energy.

Very strange indeed.

i have a big ball of rainbow obsidian in my room. When my sister saw it she automatically thought it was something evil or satanic. upon a closer examination she could see the fantastic mix of colors and deep pools of green and blues beneath the surface, and now she wants one too. if anything obsidian is a protective stone that wards off negativity and is not to be feared.

You die & get reborn. I know death is fears so bad b/c the process of dying is unknown - exactly what happens. Also I would fear the way I was going through Death, as in being eaten by zombies or being demonically possessed. Oh, yeah, that's super scary.

I do agree though, even though death may be scary. It is a time for rebirth. Like the night kills the sun, it is reborn every dawn. It's cyclical, and there is real beauty in that.
Don't be scared Nick & Kitty....there's nothing to fear with death. One of the biggest keys to spirituality and transcending is to not even recognize fear, push it away. Harboring fear will only hold you back. Put yourself on the right path and things will go as they should, and your passing will be one of peace instead of something to fear.

Also......due to reasons that are outside of our control RAID5 will not be providing sound for the evening. Instead we have a wonderful replacement......Jason, aka Sunkyst, will be bring out his subs that were present on the psy stage at Southern Junktion. He will also be bringing out his EAW tops. We shall be puishing 11,000 watts of psychedelic music ladies and gentlemen.

Someone thought that my Santisima Muerte was evil as well. I can see that though, considering it looks like the Grim Reaper... ahhhh...

Uhm - I'm not scared of dying...just writing how I can see how someone would be scared of dying.

i had the pleasure of camping directly across from jason and his setup at decompression last weekend. his camp provided the best vibe each night through both visual display and pure sound.

So this weekend we drove down to the venue in Flatonia to check out the venue and decide how we are going to do the setup. Everything is looking great! Deco idea's are falling into place and it seems we are top of everything now. Just need to finish up on the deco.
The downtempo area is a REALLY nice area of the venue. It has a HUGE oak tree and the branches come out over the dance floor. It's in a very secluded part of the venue but in a good way.

Also just so you know we might hire a deputy to to work the front with us. So don't freak out if you pull up and see cop.. Teehee..

I plan a pretty different set than my usual for this, as my timeslot is pretty early. Probably play alot techier than usual, will be a fun experiment.

as for the altar, may I request no wire coathangers or six pentacle dice. Sometimes my arms bend back...

I just wanted to post this up on here.

Copied from Katie's post in sgoa on tribe.net

Quote:
Yay people! I'm so excited about this! We have a unique opportunity here to further discuss many of the important issues in the other thread on the Texas Psy tribe with several old school burners, fellow psytrancer/burners, fire experts and the like!

I and a few others will be hosting a workshop at the chill stage in the morning around 8:30-9ish all about Burn events and how to properly integrate into that community.
If you have wanted to go to Flipside, Myschevia, decomp, Orfunner than this is for you.
If you have attended one or two of the smaller events, and want to go to Burning Man, this is for you.
If you just want to learn how to adopt the principles into the psytrance community to make ours a little better, this is for you.

If you consider yourself an experienced burner already, then come and give us your point of view.

We will be discussing the 10 principles, 6 principles that apply to Texas Burns, fire safety from a real Fire Man, how to make a theme camp, and what ever other topics or questions get brought up.

I highly encourage everyone to attend. You will learn a lot about community involvement, preservation, safety, harm reduction...so many things.

Again, it will be held at the chill stage in the morning. Several non-psytrance burners have expressed interest in helping lead the discussion. Let's show them how we do it and educate them in the process
I would also like to add that they are providing a fun area in the chillout space for discussion to occur throughout the night but there will be an open forum discussion at the above mentioned (and bolded) time.

I love how the community is coming together for this event. Brings such a warm fuzzy feeling!

It may be earlier than normal but you still have time to do your thing. Plus, remember you will have to figure out how to build up to Marco's BPM tastes

It will be interesting though hearing techier sounds coming from you, but I know you have an eclectic appreciation for darkpsy that most people would never know about you.

What about plastic coathangers
