Wow, brings back some memories. At least I was way to young to be there, but still got in. I was there for the Grace Jones night. It was my Bday, and it was def a crazy one.

Kerry Jaggers was the bald guy. He was the second resident dj there, before Rick S , i believe.

super cool..... funny about the hairdressers! lol..... If I'm lucky I may be able to find some live recordings from Starck of DJ Mike "Go-Go" Dupriest (the best DJ they had) @ my moms house that I got from DJ Joshua (of Metropolis fame ). Those tapes are SICK..... really awesome house and techno from 86'. Wish I could have been old enough to go, I know my mother went once or twice.... ha!

no actually Kerry was thefirst resident of note behind some french guy, who was in place and had quit to move back to France to focus on a record he had made. this was an actual tale out of the Book of E. the story went that Grace Jones came down and insisted on Jaggers djing after their dj went back to France. I'm just quoting what was referenced in said book.

guy behind the desk is Luis Barajas i'm guessing. He was with Detour maginzine which covered Texas Urban Culture. The other could have been Joseph Alexandre the director.

i almost thought it was going to be a REALLY old documentary. ill have to ask my grandma & mom if they have any old pics from there. the stories they have are a million times better than any ive ever had to tell of partying.

Grandma and Mom? Really? I was 17 and too young too realize how crazy it really was. I still have never found the non-conformity/insanity that was The Starck Club and Empire.

i think its datable about which dj was the best from there. Rick S seems to be the name most people i have spoke too bring up when it comes to legendary status. They rank him behind, Levan,Knuckles,Hardy. I have a few records that have his name in the credits, and maybe a few that even have remix's or edits by him.
