![]() | Thank God For Plush
Hello all, Welcome me here. I must say, moving here from Miami almost a year ago had me pretty down. There was virtually no house music scene, and when I went to Lizard, it was disappointingly not a crowd I was used to. It seems like Dallas was a "hip-pop" city. For someone who grew up where house music was the norm, & rap wasn't cool, it was a change. I like LL because of it's rawness (I'm going for BB tomorrow night), but it seemed like it was a much younger crowd that was there just to experience their first roll. (Hey, no worries, everyone has to start out!) That being said, I haven't gone out much, and have opted to S4 for my house craves. Well, of course nothing really matches when you are used to going to Space every weekend to hear Oscar G or Danny Tenaglia or Roger Sanchez or Nick Terranova or something, so it hasn't really been satisfying, nor was I expecting anything to compare. Then I discovered Plush. I am pleasantly surprised. Can someone please tell me what's going on? I mean suddenly there are big headliners coming all the time now which is VERY satisfying to me. I am really liking Dallas now that I've discovered there's a house scene with some sexier OLDER people. The Kasakade show was the first I had been to in Plush. There were some nicer looking people. You could definitely tell who was there for the music & were fans of Ryan Raddon & house music, and who was there because they just heard Plush would be cool that night. I think those people actually thought they were going to here some current rap song at some point. I hope they were very disappointed. I mean, there were girls there booty dancing to "Shadows (Inpetto Remix!!)"!! I was appauled. I wish those kinds of people wouldn't go and waste space. Not to toot our own horn, but my little group of friends are sexy and I think people around us were surprised to see us actually knowing how to dance to house music. I think they thought only "weird roller kids" did that. ANYWAYS!!!What brought this revelation? I mean, there's actually a nice sound system & LED screen. I hope they completely abandon rap and hip-pop "mash up" nights (I just threw up in my mouth a little), and the real house heads come looking sexy and make this place a cash monger, so this can happen. It's about time we school these Dallas people that songs that talk about popping bottles are stupid, and sick beats with climaxes and some vocals are what truly move the body!! Tell me everything about this place & if this is all new to this place..... PS--What would really top it off is if they had that thing where the cold air comes down from the ceiling into the crowd... (Shit, I just forgot the name of it LOL) |

I think it's a little unrealistic to hope for mash up and rap nights to go away all together, but it's cool to know you're enjoying yourself here man. fyi - there is a house scene in this city .. just tends to be held together more-so by local disc jockeys. while not as satisfying as seeing someone like tenaglia, it's always a pleasure for us to see some new faces. stay tuned on the boards and you should find some stuff you would enjoy cheers! |
