BIOGRAPHY:

Born and raised on Chicago's Southside, Steve Smooth first immersed himself in the dance music scene starting out at a record store and then a Chicago based independent record label. As a dj, Steve worked to perfect his style of mixing, hitting the Chicago club circuit. This, along with Guest appearances on several college radio stations helped to gain him recognition, eventually leading to a frequent guest spot on the Sunday mix show, "The Street Flava," which aired on Chicago's largest radio station B96 (96.3 FM).

Solidifying himself as a production force to be reckoned with, Steve's skills in the studio earned him a part on Bad Boy Bill's production team working on dance-floor hits such as: "Everybody;" "Costa Del Sol" and "Happy" as well as his mix compilation series "Bangin' The Box" & "Behind The Decks."
Working with Bad Boy Bill, Steve hooked up with production partner, JJ Flores. Together, they found a signature sound that is guaranteed to fill dance floors across the Globe. Peak hour tracks like "Release", "Get Naked" & "Time For Love" have become bonafide hits and have led to releases on such labels as: Ministry of Sound (UK), Sound Division (Italy), Vendetta (Spain), Fine Tune (France) & Ménage Music (US).

The duo has remixed for many mainstream artists as well such as Nelly Furtado, Santana & Chad Kroeger from Nickelback. Their remix of "Dancin" by Aaron Smith was a Top 10 hit in the UK Pop Charts in 2006. With the success of the duo's production, Ménage Music released their first full length album entitled "The Collection". Within the 1st year the band has found themselves opening for bands including AFI, but more impressively beating out over 2000 bands to win the MP3.com's "Last Band Standing" contest to perform on the main stage of the infamous music festival "Lollapalooza."

Early in 2008, Steve signed his exclusive deal to release his & JJ's sophomore album on Ultra Records / Ménage Music. On October 7th, 2008 the full length album "Amp'd" was released. “Amp’d” has already set the pace to be another huge success for Steve with the single “Let It Go” which has been charted on all major mix shows & dance radio across the US. The newest single “Stay” which features the vocalist Colette has climbed the dance music charts with remixes by John Dahlback & Nick Terranova and became a #1 download on Beatport.com.

steve is really good!! Maybe he rubbed you the wrong way. I remember seeing him in 02 when he toured with BBB at the infamous orion in Los Angeles and he fuckin RIPPED it!! Also his production is outstanding!!! They most def have defined their sound.... This was one of my personal faves, robbie rivera also played a remix of it on his miami album...

He's just focused, and really determined. Some artists can pull off madness while still maintaining a normal personality such as paul van dyk. But others it takes serious concentration, so it can appear as cockiness when in all reality it's focus. I met him in 02 and on stage he appeared very "jesus pose" if you know what I mean. I was working for B3 cande productions at the time so I had love with the venue, went back stage talked to steve while bbb went on and he was very cool. JJ Flores is more chill and welcoming, but either way these two fella's are gonna bring it HARD!!!

If I wasn't booked that night I would be going to this no question! It seems all the good shows going down I am always booked somewhere else.
