Re-live the rave experience? - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

So, this friend of mine from Louisiana grew up raving with me at the State Palace. She used to dj by the name Brandi Raves. She has this boyfriend who doesn't understand the whole rave culture. She wants to bring him up here sometime around Valentine's Day (he has family here) and try to show him this scene we're all (still?) so fond of. It was his idea, because he wants to understand her passion, not just for the music, but for the scene, community, ect.

She's all like, "Kenny I know yall always have good electronic music up d'ere. Find me a rave I can bring Eric too." I paraphrase the request, but that's the jist of it. I'm thinking that's a whole lot of pressure to find some event that still exhibits the rave vibe, but isn't full of crappy music and young kids who don't really get it.

So, anyways, anybody throwing a rave in Feb.? Just checkin...

The thing at Afterlife this weekend, looks about palatable, alas it's too soon.

Many of the underground/renegade parties I've been to here, definitely exhibit this vibe. If you are working on something on the low, PM me plz.

A headliner or two would be nice.

The Heart Chakra, on Feb 23rd. If she takes him anywhere, make sure it's that one. Serious all night dance action - none of that 4:00 am crap that y'all have to put up with in Dallas.

Otherwise, there's killer warehouse parties almost every weekend in Austin (and no dancehall permits required).

She loves Minc, we went there when she came up for my birthday, but as cool a vibe as it is, it is still a club.

Has Afterlife gotten any better since DeepSky live in 10/06? I honestly haven't given it another chance since then. It was rave-a-licious, but kinda dirty in the bad way, idk...

Tell her to quit being such a Trancecracker, and go to a real party. If she wants a thick vibe and killer music, Jello's parties are the way to go. Srsly, it's your best hope for showing her man what it's really all about - people, music, and positivity.
