Funky Techno....

DAVE The Drummer - "Hydraulix 17" [Hydraulix]
Pete Simpson - "Pioneers EP" [Core]
Bio Booster - "Undecided Destination" [Ethnik Groove]

these are three techno tunes that are heavy on the beats and the funk... i mean, don't get me wrong, i like some loud Shranz... but sometimes, it's devoid of funk....

If you get a chance, check these tunes out!!

I have a hard time calling DAVE the Drummer anything other than acid techno, especially if he's releasing it on Hydraulix.

listen to the EP (if you haven't alreayd) and then getting back to me on it...

it's hard press to call a track "acid techno" when there's not a lick of acid lines/synths in it or a 303 to be found... if someone has a hard time calling him anything but acid techno simply b-c of what he USED to do (primarily), well, i imagine those are the same people still calling mauro picotto a trance dj.

Granted, but if he's not using any acid/303 elements that would be the first out of at least a couple dozen records of his I've heard.

he's actually done quite a bit non-acid stuff...

altho' he remains "true to his roots" and does the occassional acid beat.... the last time i saw him perform was strikingly devoid of acid... but he's apparently touring right now with Product 19 from Pittsburg and Ant and some other folks and touting it as an acid techno tour...

(ps... if you have a roller coaster in your area you may be able to get them cheap... they want to go anywhere where there's roller coasters (ie kings' island, kentucky kingdom, six flags, et al) and ride all the rides. we got 'em cheap in indy b-c of our close proximity to King's Island in cincy and kentucky kigndom six flags down in Louisville).

Haha maybe, but how much am I going to end up spending on cotton candy and beer? Something tells me they won't be that cheap.

You should check out his stuff on Cluster. Mostly straight techno. Think of agressive Stay Up Forever stuff without the acid lines. Pretty good stuff imo.

Well, unfortunately I'm not able to throw more money on the techno fireplace just now. Maybe someday I can take on other tours, as it was I had to turn down a couple tours already.

None of the above imo. He's not dark enough to be schranz and not soft enough to be tech house. He's clubby techno, which could be considered funky depending on your definition.
