Dj interview.... #1

Do dj's like turntables hanging from the ceiling? Like at Velvet hooka, but instead of them on chains and moving, very sturdy and motionless??? And can that be made?

Thanks! Just curious...

Sounds cool, I have just not had experience with that.

Make sure the anti-skating knob is adjusted correctly on the tables for such a setup.

I remember seeing in Fader mag a year or two back about a guy who makes setups like this. Wood coffin and hanging from the ceiling using wire, the shit looked dope. If I can find the mag I will scan the pic and post it.

If you have ever played at Club One on their main room setup, multiply the motion by about 3.

It really depends on the construction of the rig, but it can be like DJing on a swing if you're not careful.

Actually, the booth @ ONE is fucking dope!!!! Its a little scary at first, but it forces you to mix gracefully.......i guess thats the best way to describe it.....anyways, once you get the hang of it, its on!!

I never liked it personally. I understand why they did it considering the space, but it's a pain in the ass especially with those $#*&ing Stanton Trackmasters they always used. Those have to be my least favorite needles ever.

never used the "hanging setup" but personally i think it's a waste of money. who wants swinging decks? what if you what to kick part of a track in and out, or scratch? the rig sounds unstable.

sounds like it would look cool, but unless they're totally motionless, i'd stick with the basics.

Area 51 had some sort of rubber band system in the main room. All three tables would be in a constant bounce bounce bounce motion. Very strange.

ACTUALLY I WORKED THERE AND THAT WAS THE #1 COMPLAINT ABOUT TURNTABLE SET UP, THE RUBBERBANDS, THEY SUCK RIGHT?

I WAS THINKING MORE OR LESS, METAL RODS IN BLACK HANGING FROM THE CEILING AND A KEWL METAL STAND FLOATING TO HAVE THE WHEELS OF STEAL ON. MAYBE I SHOULD SUBMIT A DESIGN.

If the turntable bounces/swings/shakes at all, it blows. Period.
