Guys like him get this shit sent to them sometimes without even asking. And as far as Sasha ditching prog. I'd say hes been trying to do that for awhile now. His sets have swayed back and forth between the realms of tech to straight up house. There is still alot of prog out there being release althou I have no idea who the fuck is buying it. Its pretty stale right now and I can definitely see alot of people who once championed the sound trying to escape its clutches and move on into some more interesting territory. Maybe even get a few people to dance along the way.

yea i agree that sasha doesn't have to wait for abelton live 4 to come out, he has a copy already. also i dont think he will be using that anyways, because you dont get as clean of mixes out of it. i have a friend that uses that for mixing his org tracks together and making mixed compolations of his own work. i dont think sasha will stop playing his progressive house, but i do see him going more into tech house, idm, ambient, and some form of deeply melodic trance. i also think he will be using final scratch just like paul van dyk and several other cds out there today. he could possible use ableton 4 and final scratch together. hell who knows really? i do think it is a good idea for djs to change their styles over time. everyone needs a change from what they normally listen to, even if it is a little change. the same old thing gets old after a while. also progressives isn't going anywhere, because sasha is not the one that makes everyone play progressive tunes. there are people out there that liked progressive music before progressive was progressive and before sasha started playing progressive tunes. also i am one of those people that buys some of the progressive tunes being put out on the market, and there are a lot of other djs that are buying them also. |

It seems that Sasha has just decided to not be constrained to the triangle anymore, and is just playing all over the place. Hell, the S&D Emix a few weeks back, when Sasha hit the decks, he threw out a long section of breaks. Last night, he was on Global DJ Broadcast, and ranged back and forth between some really near-Trance numbers and some House stuff.

who cares what "progressive" is...it's just music. some of it's fast, some's slow, some hard, some soft. bottom line: music. if it's trendy, the press slaps a label on it and markets it until everybody get's tired of it and the next fad comes hopping along. it's kinda strange, a lot of the stuff i hear now in clubs is what they played in London in '89, while there's also stuff that no one can quite understand yet. |
