Any computer techs here? Got a problem.

First off here are my comp specs :

Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Athlon 2500(Barton Core)
1052 MB PC2700 Ram
60 GB HD(I know I need more space)
Nvidia TI 4200 Video Card

The problem I have been having is that my comp will go to the a blue screen a.k.a Blue Screen of Death. This is the message that is up when it goes to this.

"***STOP : 0x00000076 ( 0x00000000, 0x85269900, 0x00000002, 0x00000000) PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system admin. or tech support group."

This only happens when my computer is under a lot of stress like when Im using Reason, or any other program of the like. Any help would be awesome.

I think you should up grade to XP or even better put Linux on your box. If you did that you would never see a blue screen of death in your cpu's life. It's just a problem with the windows OS. Upgrading to XP though should be a good solution. I read what you needed to do to fix the problem and it involves modifying your registry. Any mistakes made while messing with your registry will cause major damage to the function of your OS and you will prolly end up having to reinstall or some bs. I say you upgrade to XP and then install the service packs for it, which u can download off of Microsofts website. Should fix your problem.

Nope it's actually a demo. It used to do this also when I would play UT 2004, but then it stopped after I added some memory.

2000 and XP are basically the same kernel. They are both very reliable. If you are getting a blue screen in either, it usually means a hardware issue or something is jacked up with your windows installation.

It could be anything from bad memory to unstable overclocking.

Are you overclocking the cpu or video card at all? Do you have some other memory you can try out??

I would also grab a copy of Sisoft Sandra (I think that's the name) and run the burn in test for a few hours and see if you get a blue screen ... If you don't have a problem with that test, then you might have a software related issue.

Good luck! Blue screens suck11

What service pack are you on? They also release critical updates regarding lockups on almost a montly bassis.

Thats where I would start looking first.

It's as simple as adding that registry key to track down which driver is causing the blue screen. I wouldn't worry too much about fumbling in the registry. You are only adding a key and not removing anything. You have to be a real turd to accidently remove something or change something you're not supposed to. I never understood why people were so scared of the registry. Just add that key and when you get the same blue screen, it's supposed to display the driver name on the blue screen. Once you get that, reinstall or update the driver.

Alright I added the value to my registry and my computer finally crashed again here is what I got this time on the BSOD.

***STOP : 0x000000CB(0x804AB2BB, 0x804C03BE, 0x85349088, 0x00000000) Driver_Left_Locked_Pages_In_Progress

***Adress 804AB2BB base at 80400000, DateStamp 4047db83 - ntoskrnl.exe

***Adress 804C03BE base at 80400000, DateStamp 4047db83 - ntoskrnl.exe

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.

Guess I need to repair the windows 2k installation or upgrade to xp maybe. Anyone know about ntoskrnl.exe?

ntoskernel.exe is basicall the whole OS.... So if you haven't actually upgraded any hardware lately, you might have a bad memory module (as suggested earlier) If you have access to more memory, try swapping it out. You could also "upgrade" your Win2k with Win2k to replace the critical OS files...
