![]() | M Audio Evolution MK461 vs M Audio Ozone
Hey guys, I've been doing some research on these products, and am looking for a new MIDI keyboard. I'm stuck on M Audio products cause I've heard good things about them. Other than the difference of the evolution having 49 keys opposed to the ozones 25, and the ozone having 4 more adjustable knobs, I can't seem to find many differences. And of coarse the Evolutions 9 adjustable sliders which the Pzone does not. Anyone use these products? Know the difference, if any between them. Also some product feedback if anyone has used them. I'm really looking more toward the Evolution, but want to know which keyboard would fit the Reason 2.5 propellerheads version best. Please Post back. Thanks Jon |

Big difference, first the 449 is simply a midi controller thats it, a very very good one but when you boil it down its just that. The ozone is as you can see im sure allot smaller, but are full sized keys and pressure sensative but not having a couple octaves to play without hitting that blue button to go up and down the scale will get annoying. However the biggest difference is the ozone is not just a midi controller its also a 24/96 audio interface which on top of being great for traveling and laptop work if you dont have a real audio card in your computer (meaining no sound blaster stuff, real dsp asio cards) it can act as this for you also. |

![]() | Then what about between. the MK 449C and the MK 425C
I like the setup of the Oxygen8 better than the O2. But then again you have the Evolution MK 425C. If you were looking for a keyboard and had up to 200 to spend. How would you narrow this down? between M Audio products. Does the portability really matter? Right now I'm inbetween the Evolution 425C, 449C, and Oxygen8. Which would you consider best for the buck? Jon |

Well I have a mk249c and a uc16 ,which I dont think they make anymore, but all my stuff is stationary and it really depends on if you want to take it places. If this is going to be stationary for the most part go with at least a 49 key controller as having only small amount of keys to work with will be a minus later down the road. Remember all the knobs on the midi controllers are assignable to vst instruments so you will be able to manipulate those as you need.

So would you say the extra keys are more important on the 49 key Evolution, or the portablility on the 425C? I'm about to hit up guitar center and unfortunately the guy in pro audio knows nothing. Right now I'm leaning on coming home with the 49 key Evolution or the 25 key evolution. just still undecisive. Jon |

I dont think you will be dissapointed, me personally portability is not that important the extra keys will make a big difference when composing and also when/if you use battery or another sampler that you want to have alot of samples on...
