![]() | Midi-Wav converter
I am creating a video game in Macromedia Director, and the sounds that I have downloaded to use in the game are in midi. format, or .mid. I need to convert these to WAV or mp3 in order to use them usccessfully in Director, I am not interested in paying for the Midi IO extra. Get at me if u think you can help, thx

oh I went through this bs 2 years ago and nobody could give me answer. All you have to do is use that mircosoft sound recorder under your accessiories and you'll have to adjust the time depending on how long it is. How you do that is just record something for 2 seconds and extent that by adjusting the speed and you'll have more time to record , and then you record the midi. Just cut the extra time off with a wav edit program |

yeh, I have gone down the download.com route. Found 1 decent freeby, most of the others are shite, but I am still having a problem with my soundcard. I'm gonna mess with it some more, prolly have better luck with my other box with the better sound card, i'll give your idea a whirl Pollux, I am able to convert the midis with midi2wav, but I am still havin sound issues with my wavs on this comp, records the wav, but no sound or activity on the sound mixer, the box I am usin right now is mainly for graphics. Picked up a KVW switch tho, lookin foward to linkn my two boxes together later, that might help a bit, we'll see. let u guys know how it goes, thx, keep the ideas comin. |

do you mean KVM switch? if so, all thats gonna do is let your computers run on the same monitor/kb/mouse I prefer to separate them, at least for the monitors, so i can see both at once.

I could be wrong, but MIDI is not actually sound. It's just data that tells a sound generating device what to play, right? So I don't know if there is a such thing as a MIDI to WAV converter. I am new to the production game and am still figuring shit out, so I may be wrong. If I am, please don't refrain from telling me so.

Midi is not a sound. Midi is computer information that tells a synthesizer (or a synth on a sound card) to play certain notes, and other information. If you have a midi file, you can get it to play back on your sound card and record your sound card playing the midi file into .wav format using any major recording software, including cakewalk, cubase, etc.
