.mid files help please!

I've got some general midi music files that I'd like to see if I can import them into a program like cubase and be able to just use the midi notes but not the general midi sounds that are associated with the notes.

im sure you can do it in cubase, but i couldnt tell you how.
in logic, you can just import the midi file to an instrument track, and the midi will trigger whatever instrument you have on that track

Not to familiar with Cubase but I know you need VSTs to trigger the notes for it to play. I did it a few times, but I don't really play with cubase...sorry man.

Thank you guys!! It seems logical that sense it not really audio files I'm dealing with but midi notes that I should be able to lay it into a midi track in cubase, assign a vst instrument to it and have it play.

All you should have to do is goto Import Midi File.... Should lay out the different chs with the midi notes & then assign whatever VST to which ever one you like bud.
