I do see your point on the use of the films, and agree that the use of samples is nothing new.

However, you have to admire the fact he used a wide variety of tracks and edits, rather than just picking 24 new tracks to play over two hours.

I was big into Star Wars as a kid...I'm not totally going crazy about it now, mind you.

But back in the day, before the VCR, the only way to relive the experience of going to the movie was listening to the film's recording on a turntable. So, I thought hearing some of these samples and sound effects in the mix, which I pretty much memorized when I was younger, was cool.

Of course Tom is going to use the Star Wars samples. He's one of the Jedi Knights. It's only fitting. I haven't listened to the mix yet, as I am waiting for it to finish recording on another PC. The Jedi Knights (Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard) are one of my all time favorite production teams.
