House of Yoshi: The Collection mixed by Dean Coleman - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

I'm not sure if this is a repost but just wanted to let some people know to check out this album if they are big into Deep Dish. Here is some info off Resident Advisor.

I don’t think I need to write much for anyone to realise how influential the Yoshitoshi label has been in the last 10 years. The creators, Deep Dish, have been at the helm guiding new music from around the world each year, including their own original productions and remixes. Over that time we have seen tracks that have originated from this stable, reach global success and who can blame them. Eddie Amador's 'House Music' is their biggest selling release while classics such as Brown Brother's 'Under The Water' and Alcatraz's 'Giv Me Luv' have remained in the memories of all that have stepped a foot in a club or picked up a compilation.

With each Yoshitoshi compilation they ask someone involved in the label to pick and mix the disc. Who better for that task is Dean Coleman. Dean over the last couple of years has been prolific in providing remixes and original pieces to not only Yoshitoshi, but to various labels around the world and has seen much success. His remix of Morel's 'If You Love Me' was snapped up by Hernan Cattaneo for his Masters Series and has been met with high acclaim.

The disc starts off with Chris & Kai’s smooth and uplifting paradise vocal mix of Sumo's 'Yes We Will' and is a pleasant funky start. The Message mix of Eddie Amador’s huge hit ‘House Music’ is very smooth as the spoken vocal spins off its love for said title. The teaming up of Dick Trevor & Danny Howells for the vocal classic 'Dusk Till Dawn' has always been a mainstay in loads of record boxes and fits nicely here. Moving into a more solid house sound is Holmes Ives excellent '8 Letters' mixed by MK & MTV and definitely gets the mix pumping with its emotive synths and vocals. Keeping up the tempo is Narcotic Thrust crossover hit 'I Like it' with Dean himself on remix duties here. Sultan’s very impressive 'Shivers' delves into deeper territory with the assistance from Tommoyboy and is definitely a highlight here.

Narcotic Thrust appear again, this time assisted by Behrouz with his remix of 'When The Dawn Breaks' that gently brings the beats back. Moving into another highlight is Dean’s remix of Morel’s 'If You Love Me' and is always a pleasure to hear as its so driving and uplifting. Turning things a tad upside down is Jason Jinx with 'Do You See Me' as its quirky samples and relentless riffs follow on nicely. Skylark (Nic Fanciulli) provides his impressive interpretation of Deep Sky’s 'Talk Like A Stranger'. No Yoshitoshi greatest hits album would complete without Brown Brothers classic hit 'Under The Water' but this time Deep Dish provide their Pressure remix for the occasion. Alcatraz give it up with their seriously groovy houser 'Giv Me Luv' and follows on with the epic feel. Finishing off the disc and slowing things down is Miguel Migs’ with his 'Find Whats Mine' vocal tune and definitely leaves you feeling uplifted and relaxed.

Both old and new tracks ranging from house to deeper sounds to tough beats, there isn’t much that can go wrong here. Obviously Dean has sat down and worked out a genuine way of meshing and mastering these tracks together, which I think he has done a pretty good job of doing.

I'm a big fan of Dean Coleman's production work, and I really like the label, but this release seems redundant.

Last year, the label put out compilations mixed by Behrouz and Alex Neri & 16B, and of course, they both featured tracks the label has already released.

It looks like there's maybe some new mixes or edits on here, but generally speaking, it looks like a re-packaging that we've seen over and over again.

I'd rather pay for a compilation that Dean put together using other tracks, not the label's...
