| Great moments in DJ history
From Ed Crunk showing up to play Edge Club with no records - to a SMU girl setting her hair on fire asking DeMarkus to play something "More Black".... There needs to be a place to hear more of these stories. Pictoral evidence is even better. I've created a forum on the Grin Board for this and depending on how it goes might publish the stories as a feature on another website. If you have anything to share please post it. Local / National / International - whatever. http://www.grinmusic.com/bb/ |

what about this story: Ok, not strictly dnb, not dnb at all actually but an off topic point. Went to the Love Planet festival this weekend here in the Czech Republic, Zinc definitely the high point - played a 4 hour set to cover the non-arrival of roni size due to the airport strike in the uk. Result. What really stood out though, was Adam Freeland. He arrived on stage 45 minutes late, clutching a bottle of tequila, and had with him some aussie bloke, clearly a mate, with a mic who took to laring and hollering into the microphone in the style of some pissed bloke who had taken to the stage during a rock concert. I kept waiting for the bouncers to drag him off, but Adam passed him the tequila bottle and it seemed he was there to stay. Horrendous. But that wasn't the half of it. He mixed out his first tune without cueing in the second one, and just stopped the deck. Carried on listening to the mix in his headphones. Incredible. Took him about 20 seconds to work it out and he just flipped the crossfader over about a minute into the tune. He didn't make a clean mix throughout the entire set. Also spilt an entire half pint of orange stuff (presumably screwdriver) over one of his decks. And the grand finale? Danced away from the decks towards his aussie mate still screeching into the mike, with his headphones cable attached to his belt, and pulled the mixer and one of the decks clear off the desk. I've never seen anything like it. He turned up a bit later in one of the tents and was staggering about like a kings cross tramp. Really, really sad. pics: http://www.breakbeat.cz/dataimg/foto...eplanet/55.jpg http://www.breakbeat.cz/dataimg/foto...eplanet/54.jpg http://www.breakbeat.cz/dataimg/foto...eplanet/62.jpg http://www.breakbeat.cz/dataimg/foto...eplanet/56.jpg http://www.breakbeat.cz/dataimg/foto...eplanet/53.jpg |

I feel bad telling this story, because its about a friend who made a fool of himself, but its so damn funny I just can't resist... DJ Joshua (aka IZ) came into town, stayed up late partying the night before his gig at Zubar and when he arrived for his set, it looked like he hadn't even slept, or sobbered up... he had trouble putting the records on the deck properly (couldn't get the little hole in the record to line up with the nipple/spindle on the deck) he had trouble determining the reason why there was no sound coming through his headphones (didn't realize they weren't plugged in) he had trouble cueing the next record (he let a song run out) he had trouble using the turntables (he was actually beatmatching the next record in his headphones, using the pitch control and everything, and the needle WASN'T EVEN ON THE RECORD) he fell asleep twice while mixing (people were screaming at him to wake up) ...the list goes on, but you get the point...just another drunk dj
