not even. the lack of 'quality music' is your own personal preference. I've always found plenty of quality music... since I started buying music around 1976 or 77. The drop in record sales (if you are referring to vinyl) started with the compact disc and digital music in general. None of this has anything to do with what format the DJs play on. I'm not sure where you are getting that reasoning.

Hopefully if people demand more, record sales will go back to where they were around '95-'96 and this thing will pick up again... Record sales will never go up again, its just not going to happen. And I don't know how you correlate djs playing free MP3's and a slumping record sales.

Basically you statement fails on all levels.

It's a problem that has been plaguing psychedelic trance dancefloors across the globe for a good while now. I speak from the experiences of a good deal of people fed up with hearing bullshit at their parties... promoters, musicians, dj's, and dancers... My "experience" should have nothing to do with your integrity. Quit being lazy and cheap, get real...

I wonder if he realizes that virtually every radio station plays MP3s now.

with the shitty sound systems that plague dallas nightlife, CDs and MP3s sound better most of the time because of the heavy bass of vinyl.

um. you know nothing of my personal preference in musical format. you also know nothing about what is vital to make a crowd move. you also are obviously a DJ with little to no experience or grasp of reality if you believe all that you have spouted off here... which is a bunch of babbled nonsense.

try again, bub. I make a decent living playing music for crowds and I speak from my own experience about what matters... not "experiences of a good deal of people in the underground psychedelictrance scene who are fed up blah blah blah..."

I am talking about electronic music, and psytrance specifically... A majority of electronic music is following the same trend though... The only people buying original copies in the past were dj's, if dj's aren't buying originals, then who is? The profit margin for record labels is already razor thin, the only thing keeping alot of them alive is the love and dedication they have to the music. If labels stop releasing music, then artists don't get paid to make their art(music). Tis has lead to lack of motivation from a lot of producers... If you haven't noticed it you are not paying attention... The only thing I see that is really nice coming out of this are a number of really great underground labels have had the playing field leveled... Whereas they were selling a thousand or so per release already, now the other labels are being forced to scaledown there releases to keep from having a huge stack of material sitting around waiting to be bought. This is in no way good for the scene in general though...

work it out dude... whatever makes sense in your head. You went from talking about MP3 quality for a crowd to who knows what. I just wouldn't jump into the music business right away if I were you.

In my case, since I use Final Scratch, another advantage of playing .waf or .aif files is that the software doesn't have to decode the file (mp3) on the fly. IE - less overhead for the processor in a real time situation.
Ever since Beatport and a few of the other places started offering wav downloads it's all I've been buying.
