 | Control Surface? what to get
tell me what control surface I should get. It needs to run with Pro Tools LE and soundtrack PRO, and everything else if possible. Probably needs to run on MCU, and I would like to have one that is a mixer as well so I dont have to buy a multichannel interface as well as the control surface. any ideas? I need at least 8 channels, no more than 24 is necessary.

my dream mixer.... http://mackie.com/products/tt24/index.html i would call both mackie and digidesign and verify which DAW's it works with and of course that there are no known issues with your OS, chipset of motherboard, etc. ez. |

this is all you need:     savin' ya cash. my thoughts on control surfaces is that they are totally unnecessary. most songs have like 60+ tracks open. just get a second monitor and have the "mixer" in the program on that second monitor. if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, you're in business. you can get an outboard mixer to control inputs and main outs very cheap.

thanks merritt, but if you read what I said, I want a built in mixer on that as well. IE, functions as the soundcard and control surface. im trying to have a s little equipment as possible, as the new studio is not very large also, since my boss is paying for this, and he is not computer efficient, he needs hardware, which he is used to

i don't understand how it's a pwnt or owned or whatever. everybody has different needs. for me and the way we write music, a control surface is just adding some unnecessary steps to the writing process (which one click of a mouse can do). Croix is in a totally different situation where one makes sense. different strokes- that's all. but, if anybody was looking for basic advice, i'd still say stay away from those. they just add more work.

i have one no really, i do. Im not allowed to smoke during work hours, but... its here. were about to pimp out the new office. Got the New dual 2.7 G5, Pro Tools LE, Logic 7, Soundtrack Pro, a 24 channel digital mixer / control surface, new Tannoy monitors, dual 23" screens, and we are thinking of building and isolation booth next to the studio, with a window between them. we also just got a Manley VoxBox, a Langevin Pre, and a few new mics.
