Making it Big - Dallas Dance Music - Dallas nightlife, music, tickets, and more

I know there are alot of DJs in Dallas, but what wil it take to achieve global status living in Dallas? Is there a better chance in, lets say Austin or San Antonio? I'm thinking about maybe trying to make it out there in either Austin or San Antonio. What do ya'll think?

You have a better chance at winning the lottery. Making it big in Dallas means you'll barely make a living.

"Big in Dallas" is unique perception to everyone as an individual yet different from that of others. In my opinion, someone can “make it big” from any city in which they live. Dallas has some of the sickest producers & DJs in the Midwest. This fact would not be any different for those Im referring to if that person happen to live somewhere else.

i don't think location has any effect on "making it big", not with the internet as a tool for promotion and connection....

of course, i think if you're going into anything with the desire to "make it big", then you are doing it for the wrong reasons. do it for the love and passion. that way, if you ever do "make it big", it's just an added bonus, yet you've had fun the whole trip and never let yourself down with inflated expectations.

You can live wherever as long as you have something to show the world and make them notice you !

You want to really get noticed ? Then move to London..DANCE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.

Your chances are a lot better but you still need to show something unless you just want to dj and be noticed from the booth !

It's all what you make it.

If you are good enough to "make it big" it does not matter where you live. True, maybe your city is not known for producing great EDM musicians but if you are dedicated and do whatever it takes to get your music in front of the right people you can ""Make it Big". There is also a large amount of dedication needed to achieve this stage in our careers as musicians. Thus the reason that so many would be dj's or producers never make it big, they just couldn't sacrifice other areas of there life to achieve global success that people like Prodigy or my favorite producer Paul Van Dyk enjoy today.

Think about that....

Even though I'm just in my bedroom most of the time I love being on my decks. It makes me feel good. It also helps me realieve stress sometimes. I'm just posting up as many threads and questions as I can, because I want to get as much info from all you DJs as I can. Of course I want to make it big, but I really can't wait 'till I start playing for crowds. I'm only 19, so I'm learning as much as I can day by day. I've done 2 parties for friends, it wasn't everybody's musical preference, but I got alot of compliments. My friends are always telling me I'm "badass", there not really into EDM, but they keep telling me to keep at it, so expect more threads.
