![]() | Emagic Sucks!!!!!!!!!
I for a long time have been one of the biggest advocators of emagic software, but today i heard the living end. Emagic starting with the release of 5.2 will not be a PC platform nor will they hold any support for pc users. Emagic's rep Doug Roberts met with me less than a week ago and completly sold me on a copy of 5.0 knowing full well that there would be no 5.2 version released. In all he lied to my FUCKING FACE!!!!! Emagic has just alienated a huge group of their users They can all fornicate themselves with an iron rod!!!!!

wow - thats really disappointing. When you spend that much money on a product you expect a level of support and commitment from the vendor. macs are expensive. and a niche. sequencing software is a niche market anyway.... why would you want to limit your business to a niche of a niche? If anything, I would expect the opposite to happen - macs being edged out. I've used both platforms for a variety of applications, and I feel the wealth of third party applications (even just in music software alone) will keep me a PC user for the foreseeable future. (i would like to have a mac os X server.. but thats anotehr story altogether.) |

I doubt the majority of PC logic users are going to switch to mac. So basically Emagic just lost 35% of it's customer base. Plus, with rumors of Emagic+Apple dropping VST support from Logic for OSX, I'm sure they'll lose tons more from their already dwindling userbase. Go read the logic-users mailing list for a laugh. People are wanting to go burn down the Emagic headquarters. On a side note: I'll never spend another cent on anything made by Emagic. |

i am in agreeance with oblique, As a retailor I have been recomended logic audio as the best alternative for an audio platform therefore turning many of my customers onto emagic that had previos notions that pro tools was the living end. Today i have been getting calls from people i have sold 5.0 to in the last month. I will no longer recomend logic audio programs nor indorce them. Apple can lick my nuthair

As far as Emagic losing customers, what do they care? The Emagic shareholders have walked out of this with a big fat acquisition check. They don't need customers anymore. They sold out. Hey Equality-- convince your store to offer Logic->CubaseSX trade-in deals =) On a side note, my friend Matt sums it all up nicely with this post (one of the many flames on the logic-users mailing list today): --snip-- Quote:

Emagic sucks for selling themselves to Apple. Apple is the one with their hand on the giant crank shoved into the collective bums of pc logic users. Suck, suck suck. Emagic could have at least made keeping the pc flavors alive as part of the sale with Apple. *checking out SONAR now* |

This whole situation does suck. We as a group have taken like 4 months switching from Reason to Logic and having 4 people learn it. And we are all PCs. Im just glad we never bought the program. On a side note, Steinberg is offering a crossgrade to Cubase SX for only $299.99. Hope that can help some of you out. http://www.steinberg.net/the_magic_o...l?sid=04329185 |

i was pissed for like a day. i have already taken up sx and it's very easyyyyy once learning logic. they are still gonna release multi vsti outs for logic so i'm just fine. i could use 5.2 for a couple of years the way it is now. i still favor logic over sx right now but damn that new sx has some awesome features like non destructive project management and the timestretch makes throwing loops in a breeze compared to logic. visually, logic runs it. I aint buying no mac!

That really sucks if you have Logic.... However, if you really want to get serious about recording, and utilizing mad effects, you need a Mac's processing power...and that's about it!!! Nothing against PC, I'm typing this message on one right now, but when it comes time to run multiple 24 bit effects, PC's just can't cut it. Mac owner for life!!! DP3!! MOTU will not do you wrong..... Darren D> ridgebackrecordingsallupinyoursexyface
