![]() | Bleep Radio - Archives and Updates
Alright, some of you have to enjoy Techno ![]() The test, I guess, is whether or not you like the same stuff I do. Bleep Radio is a little online radio mix-show I've been doing since mid 2003. I was lucky enough to be the first live show on Livesets.com and have only taken one short break in that 3 year period to buy my house. The current run of shows is up to show #46 (last night's). It's no longer weekly as it once was, life has gotten in the way, but bi-weekly is still often enough to satisfy most I've found. So enough with the history crap...the basic tenet of Bleep Radio is to provide the listeners who tune in live, and the people who download the archives, with a healthy does of what I consider to be proper Techno. What do I consider proper Techno? Don't ask me to answer specifically. It drives me nuts. Better left not explored in depth I say. But you can expect to hear a good bit of Minimal, Tech-House, Chicago, Detroit, Swedish, Wonky, Brighton, Electro, Acid and plenty more. I don't really bother with the genrification myself too much, but it helps some people out I guess. To be fair most of what you hear I find isn't what's being played out by the bigger names. I tend to enjoy the oddball bleepy tracks with tracky structures as opposed to the "Floaty" Techno stuff that seems to be big where I am from (Toronto area: Hamilton!). Bleep Radio - Every 2nd Thursday (next show December 28th, 2006) Hosted by: Trevor 'isoprax' Wilkes & Scott Cormier (plus guests) Broadcasted via: livesets.com (Upper right hand corner for links) Contact: Trevor [ bleep@isoprax.com / icq 99887746 / msn isoprax@hotmail.com / skype trevor.wilkes ] Bleep Radio Archives: Bleep Archives The whole 2nd gen of bleep shows can still be dl'd. Most with full tracklists. Fun in the Murky: Techno News and info My main site to push the music I love, play and enjoy listening to. I do this show to spread music and knowledge. I think you'll find my tracklists are very in-depth and the running commentary I write for each tracklist to be part informative and part fun. |

Bleep #46 01 - Submission "Women Beat Their Men" Velocity Recordings 1006 [Women Beat Their Men EP 1997] Choon! This is a classic example of a simple yet effective track. A basic tribal house loop, with maybe 2 or 3 variations and of course the vocals...The swing of the drums coupled with the vocals create a track that will never be forgotten. This is probably Cevin Fisher's best track ever. I've heard bits and pieces of newer and older records, but I don't think he could top this gem. 02 - Submission "Women Beat Their Men" News [Dance Train Classics 13 EP 2001] 03 - Co-Jack "Nghtmove" !K7 68 [Jack The Box LP ] Co-jack is one of the guys from Hardfloor and Sysex who also did some stuff on Probe and Plus 8. There are two Co-jack EPs on Jakpot. I unfortunately only have "Down by Law" which doesn't contain this burner of a track. I was stoked when it was released on this Hardfloor comp. I also highly recommend the mixed version of this Comp.. Fantastic CD. 04 - Random Noise Generation "The Unknown" 430 West 500 [Untitled EP 2002] This is what I call a good record. All the songs are good to listen to, good to play out, and are nothing like each other. This chugger is the one that gets the most air time from me, but the flip side is also a completely twisted piece of Techno Break Beat Funk. Detroit - if only you were as consistent as you once were! 05 - Tony Thomas "Electric People" Zebra Musik 03 [Fatal Charm EP 2003] I had a brief fascination with Tony Thomas. I had dug out a couple of the early Red Frame releases he had and they were a ton of fun to play. I found them to be a cross between the Swedish Tech and Downwards stuff. Unfortunately each and every release sounded a little too similar for me to follow so after a small handful of Tony EPs I gave up. He puts together a quality record, but there are too many rehashed ideas for me. 06 - Professor Plurby & Dr. E-Tard "Velvet Rope" Tonewrecker 02 [It's Not A Tumour, It's A Way Of Life EP 2001] I've always been a fan of Paul Birken (This EP is Paul and Tony Rohr). Twisted sounds and full-tilt drum programming. He's covered ground from the Oldschool Acid days to the Neo Wonkcore and no matter what's been attempted I've yet to find something that failed to be worth buying. 07 - Marko Laine "Above The Law" Djaxc-Up Beats 269 [Above The Law EP 1997] Nothing out of the ordinary here for Djax. If you like this little tracky Chi-town esque number than this catalog range of Djax releases would be right up your alley. Go earlier and you hit the more Detroit inspired releases. Go later and you get into the less funky stuff, jacking for sure. Less boogie though. 08 - Elektrochemie "Schall (Thomas Schumacher Remix)" Confused 24 [Elektrochemie LK Remixes EP 1999] Schumacher is another guy who's older stuff I used to snap up. Big thick chunky tunes full of groove yet still fun to cut with. I can even pin-point the record that I call the beginning of the end. It was Sci-Fi Trax 3.3. Boring. From there on out he's done nothing that I found interesting enough to pick up. I think I'm bitter about it. 09 - The Advent "Visualise" Kombination Research 10 [Monastic EP 1999] The Advent are typically thought of as champions of the hard Techno realm. What gets missed by some is their electro. A lot of their B-sides have a very solid Electro track tucked away in the B2 position. Of the first dozen or so Kombination Researchs there were only 2-3 I think with an Electro track that doesn't hold it's own and make the EP worth buying. And of those EPs it's the Techno that sells it. 10 - Keith Tucker "It's Time" Intuit-Solar 08 [Blueprint EP 2000] Detroit Electro, Techno Bass. Whatever you want to call it, this is what got me into Electro. Aux 88, Keith Tucker/K1, Dj Di'jital, Godfather and Drexciya. Man alive! The Depth of each track and it's lazy yet solid grip on you still kill me to this day. I can even trace it all back to one person who is responsible for hokking me. A friend (Marco Aka Dj Drift)of an ex-girlfriend. He had these two mix tapes chock full of old Detroit Electro and I hunted down every last bit of it. The collection has only grown since then. 11 - The Wee Djs "9K" Spacebar Sentiments 01 [Over The Counter Culture EP 2005] Wee Djs! (!!!!) I f-in love this guys stuff. This is one of the tracks I would probably end up hurting myself to on a dance floor. I chair dance and fist pump where ever ever I am and it's playing. The vocal samples swell and obliterate your senses. Dude. 12 - Axel Sohns "Analog Komplex" Tonewrecker 11 [Circling The Wagons EP 2006] I met Axel on-line a while back and he's good people. I'd never actually heard anything of his aside from a little snippet for this EP and that little snippet didn't do the track justice. This is easily the best track on this EP. It's 7 kinds of awesome. I only hope he does an EP of his own stuff in the future on his own newly formed label Kitty-Corner Records. He has great taste in music and it translates well into what he writes as well. let's hear more Axel! 13 - Drax "Amphetamine" Acalwan [Amphetamine EP 1998] *ack* Trance! A mid 90's bomb. This was played by everyone and their brother at the time. It's not huge in my personal listof favorites, but it does get a special spot somewhere below Acid House from the time and above basically any new trance. yuck. hell I almost feel dumb even calling it that. There are some Detroit Techno tracks that are more melodic and Trancey. 14 - The Advent "Escapade" Kombination Research 10 [Monastic EP 1999] I tried to remember where I heard this. I couldn't. I guess it was just a record shop pick-up. I don't think I've ever played it out either. Just one of those tracks that sits on a shelf for a few years only to be scooped up now and then for a spin at home. Kinda reminds me of a track Marco Carola did on the 1000 label....could be my mind playing tricks on me. 15 - Doshy "Wild Things" Robox Neotech 01 [Wir Grüssen Unsere Mami's EP 2004] Doshy! The Robox Neotech gang all seemingly big fans of making people want to dance. I have to assume this because all of their EPs do just that. Doshy tends to rock the broken beat tracks, while some of his label mates freak the 4x4 bleeps. *hint hint* I've got an extra copy of their 2LP I'll be giving away soon! 16 - Misjah & Groovehead "Frozen memories" X-Trax 01 [Trippin Out Ep 1995] Damn son. The long play side of this record bugs me. This track I'd never played before (as far as my memory informs me) it's the first track on this side that everyone knows. Everyone Acid to Techno jock played the shit out of it. It was the first release on Misjah's X-Trax label and without a doubt the best release. A few others came close, but none touched this. Maybe I should have played it...Oh well, you get to hear the drum track workout instead. 17 - Unknown "Unknown" Remains 01 [We Must Leave ...EP] I'm not really up on my Remains trivia. The only reason I even have half of the catalog is because Veto was auctioning off big lots of it on ebay. I said why the hell not and gave it a bid. 15 records for like $20...I was definitely pleased more than half of it was actually good. New yYork label I think??? North American at least I believe. Good on them. 18 - Female "Division" Downwards 012 [Pelotone EP 1996] An early outing on the Downwards label. I personally wouldn't want to release anything on this label...anything after the first record is going to be in the shadow of Magneze! Female...is actually a dude. Peter...something. I think. It's hazy now as it's been so long since I really kept up with these guys. it was his first Ep on Downwards I know that, whether he had something out elsewhere I don't know. Very "I want to sound like Rob Hood" at times in Downwards early releases, this one included. Doesn't quite cut it, but sometimes a bouncey drum workout is what the Doctor ordered. 19 - V-Room "Audiology" Plus 8 17 [V-Room EP 1992] I can't recall who was behind this moniker. The letter G pops into mind. That tells us nothing though. Great release. One killer track on each side, with two others on the records that kinda bore me. I always forget about this record as it's tucked into the sleeve of another record. I should really get it's own soon. 20 - Justin Berkovi " Bad Wiper" Sativae 11 [Gravel Heart EP 1997] Justin is always hit or miss for me. If I like the record it's a fantastic, mind-blowing, "where did he pull these out" type record. Else, it makes my ears sore. Polar opposites. In recent years it's been more miss unfortunately. I still give everything he does a listen though. I know he'll come through for me at least once more. Download |

This set was a Live Performance. There is no Tracklist. Bleep 47 was recorded live in Taganrog, Russia where Mark Hawkins had a gig at an event called Techno City 2 on December 15th, 2006. Think bad-ass Detroit Techno and Chicago Jackno and you'll be on the right path to understanding what you're getting into by downloading the set and video that goes with it. Bleep 48 01 - DBX "Spock's Brain" Accelerate 102 [I'm Losing Control EP 1994] A B-side to the track of Dan's that EVERY either knows or should smack their forehead for not knowing. Losing Control unfairly got all the press while goodies like this sat on the other side being ignored by most. 02 - Run Stop Restore "Gateways And Galaxies" Minus 25 [Minimize To Maximize LP 2005] The newer "minimal" has too dry a mix for my tastes generally. This song included, I think the thing about it that gets my attention is it's forward momentum and of course it's bleeps. I'm a sucker for a good blip and or bleep. I think this is only 1-2 of all the songs on this 3x12" that I would even think about touching. Like I said, the majority of it can take a long walk off a short pier. It's releases like this that --to me-- justify digital stores. It'll show labels that a lot of their crap is just that in the long run. You just watch what tracks get consistent sales and not just a rush when it drops. 03 - Studio 1 "Untitled" Studio 1 [Rosa EP 1996] The infamous Studio 1 series. Not unlike the Concept series Hawtin did. I have ahard time deciding if I like one series over the other. Both are killer. I think the Studio 1 series owns the danceable end of the spectrum while Concept takes you for the ride. No more justifying anything today, I don't want to press my luck. 04 - DBX "I'm Losing Control" Accelerate 102 [I'm Losing Control EP 1994] Okay, I had to play it as well! I can't help it....sure it overshadowed so many other TIGHT dbx tracks, but damn it used to make my head turn to mush when I heard it loud and boom heavy. 05 - Todd Sines "Awk" Residual 09 [Static EP 2000] Here's where the trouble starts...Todd. Mr. Sines. .xtrak.cron. He is all and more! Daniel Bell's dbx alias got tons of mention and yes he was very good, but I always thought Todd's stuff had more juice to it. It had that certain kick to it that made it friendly to people with busy feet and to top it off it was easy on the ears as well. Too bad he doesn't bleep like he used to. 06 - Stewart Walker "Amateur Surrealism" Matrix 06 [Stoic EP 1998] An early Stweart Walker record. I think I remember reading an interview with Stweart years ago and he mentioned that this EP was his attempt at the dbx %28and todd sines!%29 styled tracks. It worked to a degree, but it lacked something...I'm not sure what, but it's definitely not on the same level. Go ahead and A-B it. you'll see. 07 - Unknown "Untitled" Blue Train 08 [Factory Dubs EP 2000] Some random Maurizio wannabe basically. I don't know anything about it, I just found it in the local record shop the day it came out. Apparently people want it now though as I get emails every once in a while asking for it. Despite it being nothing new over the M Series it is good. It definitely holds it's own on both sides. I find I even enjoy it a bit more than about half of the M Series catalog. 08 - Savvas Ysatis "Bull Walk" Tresor 171 [Select LP 2001] This guy seems to hide in dark recesses of where ever it is he's from for long periods, only to pop out now and then to drop an albums worth of material. It's pretty groovin stuff mostly. Almost all of it is very stripped down, but he always keeps the bump and funk alive. I think I prefer his Highrise LP better than this one, but as luck would have it it was difficult to dig out. Heck I still haven't located it in the shelves. 09 - R Tyme "R Theme %28Mayday Mix%29" Loaded 02 [Subversion EP 2000] R Tyme was D-Wynn and Derrick May. It's HEAVY on the Detroit feel. Orchestral amounts of strings and Diva amounts of soul. By the way...whatever the hell happened to D-Wynn? This reminds me I haven't seen or heard his name in years! 10 - Jake Mandell "The Prince And The Palm" Carpark 08 [Love Songs For Machines LP 2000] Ok, so perhaps this isn't a "Detroit Techno" track that I've slipped into the middle of my Detroit Themed mix. I say lighten up girlscout, Detroit wasn't about certain artists or label. It was about music with a certain feel, futuristic and soulful, but still able to rock your ass off. Jake does it, therefore Jake is D-Town. Suck it up, the guy rocks. 11 - Cabanne "Can't Stand" 7th City 18 [Can't Stand EP 2001] Daniel Bell's label has a fairly broad range of stuff on it. It took a turn towards the clicky, glitchy side of minimal/tech-house at some point though. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it if it's done well, but I think the earlier releases had a bit more vareity to them. It would seem to me like Quality control in all it's subjective glory has been lacking - relatively - compared to the first half of the catalog. 12 - Dj Valium "Running In October" Teknotika 15 [Dj Valuim EP 1996] This old beat up piece of crap is in the midst of a love/hate relationship with me right now. The music on this disc rocks, but it's got a bad habit of skipping on me and just generally being a pain to mix. If I could find a visible scratch or defect on it I could at least focus my rage. I'm not really a fan of Valium's other stuff, but this ep has the goods. Both mixes of "Running..." are wicked as are the other two tracks. Definitely one to look out for or just play more often if you already have it. 13 - Stephen Brown "I Am Someone" Transmat 27 [EP #2 2002] When I found out Stephen Brown was about to drop a few EPs on Transmat I was thrilled. I was hoping he'd do some sort of hybrid Detroit/Brighton type thing like some of his other releases. I thought to myself that maybe someone had finally noticed the similarities! But not. He just ended up doing some Stereotyped D. I call it that yet I still bought it. So I guess it's sitting on the better half of the D Stereotype Spectrum. Maybe I was just feeling generous that week. 14 - Kit Clayton "Nothing But Nothing" 7th City 09 [New Horizons EP 1999] One of my favorite 7th City's. This Ep is what 7th City should have stuck with. Variety and knowing what's what. 15 - Plastikman "Elektrostatik" Novamute 25 [Krakpot EP 1993] cccccccccclassic! When Richie was still doing it proper. If I say more it'll turn into a rant so I cut myself off HERE. 16 - Dwarf "Percussion Electrique" Accelerate 02 [The Silicon Ghetto EP Volume 2 1993] Daniel Bell's Accelerate imprint which ended up being a vehicle for re-releasing his Peacefrog stuff was originally something with big ideas behind it. The Silicon Ghetto series were 3 various artist EPs and they were all great. Some DBX tracks under that name and others, plus stuff from Richie and Speedy J to name a few others. Back from the bang, bang, thud, distort and crackle drum kit days of Probe and early Plus 8. Man alive! 17 - Rob Hood "Explain The Style" Metroplex 25 [The Vision EP 1996] Quite definitely a highlight of Robert Hood's output. I feel it trumps almost everything else he's done. Yes, including the two albums that everyone goes on about being definitive. Sure he had other ground breaking at the time releases, but this is the one that will still be played AND ENJOYED by others for years to come. I doubt it'll ever sound dated. 18 - KSR "Headrush %28Octave One Mix%29" 430 West 505 [Down From The Sky EP 2002] To be honest I don't really know much about KSR or the remixers. I know the bare minimum to get by. I know which are their good records and which ones I don't like. The rest has been lost to my frustration with the decline of D. D-ecline. Seriously. 19 - Dirk Jones "Simple Mind" Slavery 2000 01 [What Would Dirk Do EP 2001] Dirk old boy needs a high five. he only put out a few Ep's, but they were killer. This one espcieally. This is probably the worst song on the EP and it's bang on. There's a jazzy bass heavy number on the flip side that I'd probably hurt myself to if I ever heard anyone play it. Jay Denham should have kept this sub label of Black Nation alive...hell it'd be nice if Black Nation could return to it's glory days. 20 - Dj T-1000 "Sexy Little Homewrecker" Pure Sonik 11 [Codes And Structures Volume One EP 1999] Alan Oldham, the artist behind all the Djax label art and minimal loop blaster. If you're in a mood that requires a mindless beat thrashing this guy was always the one to turn to. Unfortunately like so many other of my old Detroit staples, I'm not really diggin what he does anymore. I guess I'm not in that mindless beat thrashing state that often anymore. 21 - Punisher "Mechanism" Reload 992103 [Mechanism EP 1998] Punisher really knew what rhythm was about. She had so many tracks with some of the craziest drum programming you've ever heard. A rarity in this "genre" and definitely had her own style. I don't know if she kept up with it, as I've not heard anything of hers in years. Once again sadly out of touch. Ah Disillusionment how I adore thee. 22 - Punisher "Unknown" Seismic/White 001 [Extinction EP 1999] See above for my sentiments. Although this one was the first on her own label and got a lot of cross genre play from what I remember. 23 - Lil Louis "Blackout" FFRR reesp01 [Blackout EP 1989] Not really Detroit by any relation other than it being a f&^king wicked tune that EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE has played at one point. Detroit, Chicago, Sweden, probably Egypt. Classic house tune that rocks even at it's --now considered-- slower tempo. Download |

Bleep #49 "Cari Lekebusch Tribute Part 1" Extended Tracklist: 00 -Mr. James Barth "Tight As Can Be" Trainspotter's Nightmare 13 [One Side Each EP 1997] I never quite understood why Cari used his Barth moniker for this EP. It's nothing at all like every other Barth track. What I do understand is that regardless of the name he used for this Ep it's a badass record. Rough and tough chicagoan business from both Cari and Steve Poindexter. Not many people seem to even know about this label of Cari's. Shame, there were a handful of excellent EPs on it. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 01 - Mr. Barth & The Persuader "Untitled" Svek 16 [Snorkelmannen O Hans Vanner EP 1997] An early Barth record and I think it shows. All the future Barth's after this EP were much cleaner sounding. This one, being rough around the edges, still has the feel to it that I think Cari used the Barth moniker for...But I think of this EP as a trial run towards the goods. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 02 - A.D.C.L. "Jolt" Railyard Records 03 [The Shadow Boxers Round 2 EP 2006] A newer Ep from the dynamic duo. Alexi and Cari have often collaborated in the past and seem to still know how to work together well enough to knock out the odd gem. Mind you it aint anything of their Pump Panel caliber... Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 03 - Bob Brewthbaker "Need This" Plumphouse 31 [Songs From Abroad EP 1998] This was my one boo-boo. This is an alias of Alexi Delano's. Still it totally sounds like it could be a James barth record which is probably why I grabbed it from the shelf thinking it was Cari at the time. Duh. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 04 - Cari Lekebusch "Reverted" Hybrid 1204 [Reverted/Aterkommen EP 1997] Classic joint from early Hybrid. "Stop Fighting - Start Uniting" This is probably one of my favorite Lekebusch tunes. partly because of it's weird yet catchy sequencing and partly because I f&*kin' raved hard to this tune back in the past! Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 05 - Mr. James Barth "Straight' Barth Stripped" Svek 33 [Remixed For The Lords EP 1999] Just another quality Svek release! Not many to be found anymore I find though... Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 06 - Cari Lekebusch "Skarume Max Peezay" Kaun Trax 05 [Understanding Of Nothing EP 2006] As far as I know this is the newest record Cari has put out as of this show's air date. It's the first Kaun Trax EP to have a slightly different feel to it which is good. What it does remind me of is the Stockago Ep which is excellent. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 07 - Puente Latino "Takes U There" Primevil 03 [Coming Back EP 1998] Another classic joint with seemingly odd or just non-standard track format. One of the reasons it'll always stay at the top of the pile. A little extra work put in while making something keeps it around that much longer. Also a good exmaple of early primevil....you know...before it went all sucky. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 08 - Cristian Vogel "Never Too Late %28Cari Lekebusch Remix%29" Primevil 01 [Two Fat Downloads EP 1997] This is the direction I had hope Primevil was going to continue with. The Cristian Vogel original track is deadly and the track I bought the EP for. it turns out that when I got home and gave the rest of the EP a solid listen I relaized the Lekebusch remix is off the charts! The vocal in this kicks my ass still. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 09 - Cari Lekebusch "Omslaget Motiverat" Hybrid 1203 [Vet Dom Som For Att LP 1998] My personal top of the list Cari track. Amongst my friends it's known as the "Bwammmmmmmmm" track. The hats and cymbals that slide of each other like lump free gravy followed by that wicked synth riff that kicks in around the 2/3 mark....Damn. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 10 - The Pump Panel "To The Sky" Missile 09 [To The Sky Remix EP 1998] Pump Panel had a bit of a rotating line-up behind it, but this EP was Alexi and Cari. The flip side has a Fred remix which is Cari by himself I do believe. The original is much better than Cari's solo effort. This time anyway. Very similiar in feel and production style I find to Dave Clarke's Red Series...ya? no? I think so. Probably better though. "To The Sky!" Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 11 - The Advent "Overseeya %28Cari Lekebusch Remix%29" Internal LP08 [Shaded Elementz LP 1996] This track is just another one of Cari's drum kit rhythm tracks. Even though that's "all" it really is it's still better than what a lot of current producers would call a song. The melodic bits near the end are ear pleasers for sure. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 12 - Mystic Letter K "Caprilectro" Eletrix 05 [Caprilectro EP 2001] One of the things I've always appreciated about Cari is his appreciation of the "other" genres out there. A lot of big names stick to their pigeon hole until the current fad changes. Cari has always done a bit of everything and for that he gets props. Yo! I don't think I've ever heard a bad electro track out of him, I'm so picky with the stuff that in itself makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 13 - Mr. James Barth "Live Feelin's" Svek LP01 [Stealin Music LP 1998] This SONG is what I feel is what the Mr. James Barth alias was driving towards. Whether Cari knows it or not. I've always felt this LP to be gold and this song in particular to be the pinnacle of all that is Barth. Dare tell me I'm wrong? Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 14 - Cari Lekebusch "Deepest Thought" 430 West LP02 [Detroit Calling LP 2001] I didn't even notice Cari's track on this double for quite some time. To be honest its not one of his best, but I still find it catches my ear for some reason. Rather than think about it...I'll just move on. Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 15 - Cari Lekebusch "Fusion" Loop 22 [Untitled EP 1995] Bloop Bloop! I love when Cari gets these bleepy drum kit workouts going. Layered snares and those crisp hats of his mixed with the acid chirps are enough to make me giggle like a schoolgirl. If you like this track I also recommend his Yakari work... Discog's Link w/ More Infomation 16 - Fred 2 "Monoflight" Missile LP02 [Launches 2 LP 2000] Fred seems to be the name Cari adopted when putting material out on the North American Chicago/Mid-West acid influenced labels. It's all quite good. Some longer head trips like this one and some more hectic electro and tracky shenanigans as well. All Fred is good Fred. Semiotic is Jason Barspin, a 28 year old from São Paulo, Brazi. Jason has been Dj'ing since 2002 when he graduated from the Fieldzz Records Dj school. He initially played Drum'n'Bass and Breakcore, but after some experimentation and hearing other styles he became hooked on “Wonky Techno”. Sets by people such as Michael Forshaw and Jerome Hill are to be credited with making Jason realize Techno's potential. Also trying his hand at production, Jason enjoys combining all the different influences he's had with humorous and cartoonish samples, movie soundtracks and odd voice overs. ![]() | Jerome Hill supplied the mix for Bleep. He was hesitant about it though, being concerned about it not being "Bleep suitable"... This show is definitely a first for Bleep. All the previous shows have been Techno, House or Electro and all their variants -- or whatever you prefer to call it all... I always try to do my best in spreading what I consider to be good music, I wouldn't be doing that to the best of my ability if I didn't share everything I thought was good. That is why I feel this eclectic mix of everything and anything that Jerome cooked up is totally "Bleep suitable". I hope you all enjoy this step-out as much as I do. Bleep Radio # 52 Tracklist: 01 - Auch "Untitled %28März Remix%29" Force Inc. 206 [Remix Tomorrow Goodbye LP 2002] Some found sound ambient street noises coupled pure bass funk and dirty claps. This came out during that time when Force Inc. was leading the charge with the Glitch stuff. This is definitely a track and record worth hanging onto, I did like most of Auch's other stuff as well unless it was the more experimental music under his own name. März, the chap responible for this awesome remix, I don't really know much about. Off the top of my head I would say I have three tracks of his spread out over 3 various comps. This is the best, followed by one other good one and a rather lack-luster third. That's life. Discog's link w/ more information 02 - Mathias Linzatti "Una Espera Larga" Railyard Recordings 05 [Una Espera Larga EP 2006] I accidentally ordered this one. I got trigger happy near the ol' shopping cart button and wasn't paying attention. Once it arrived I gave it a shot though. I trusted that Railyard was run by some guys with a solid music taste. After playing it a bit, in this mix and other places. I've decided it's probably going to end up being one of those records that fades with time. It doesn't really stand out as a track or song. It worked in this case as a tool, but I don't purposely go that route too often. Discog's link w/ more information 03 - Unknown "Untitled" We Are 06 [We Are EP 2006] I don't know anything about this record label, or even who made the tracks on the damn thing. I do know that this track seems pretty dry at first, but it's go a subtle drive to it that reminds me of dbx era bleep trax. I wouldn't compare it directly to those old gems, but the essence is there. Discog's link w/ more information 04 - Adam Beyer "AWC Part II" Plus 8 87 [A Walking Contradiction EP 2006] A bit of a return to the less abrasive Techno front for Adam. He did some solid stuff years ago Loop Records %28Slang EP%29, but really since then he's not done much else like it. Not worth buying I mean. Around the same time this EP dropped there were 3-4 others by him in this vein as well. Bah - one was enough. When he comes up with something else I'll give it a chance again. Until then I'm on Adam Beyer hiatus redux. Discog's link w/ more information 05 - Horseshoe "Bassfunk" Plus 8 91 [Cabinet Unreleased Classics 1994-2005 LP 2006] Cabinet!! Cabinet!! Cabinet records to me epitomizes "Minimal Techno". There were a few other labels around the same time that put out more and hell even better stuff, but I'll save those kudos for later. This is pre-glitch minimal, pre-tech-house minimal....whatever the hell else is called minimal these days. This stuff was rocking in the mid 90's. Discog's link w/ more information 06 - Tobias Schmidt "Systemshocker" Feinwerk 11 [Heavy Makeup EP 2007] Every-time Tobias Schmidt and Neil Landstrumm make music together it's an improvement on their last project. They seem to have come up with some un-formula for devising Techno that hits home across the board. It'll fit with anything and suits at home leisure listening as well. Top notch. Discog's link w/ more information 07 - Terry Mullan & Bryan Jones "City of Wind" Robsoul LTD 03 [Reclaim Your Acid Heritage EP 2006] Everybody loves a 303, truer words could not be spoken. Acid house is what kick-started my wanton lust for all that is Fun in the Murky. I don't find much anymore that has that same old feel to it, but I stumble across some gems now and then. I've been pretty disappointed with Mullan's output lately, but this one netted him a buy. Discog's link w/ more information 08 - Alexi Delano & Xpansul "Cosmic Antipathy" Plus 8 92 [Intelligence Reframed EP 2006] Alexi Delano has been a long time hero in the Techno and House scenes. He's got stuff across the board, but I don't think I can recall any other releases of his that are as well put together as this one. I'm going to have to assume for the time being that the increase in quality is due to this Xpansul character. Until I hear Alexi do it again on his own, that's what I'm working with. Discog's link w/ more information 09 - Dublex Inc. "Slack Society %28Swag's Asbo Voco%29" Sugarcane Recordings 07 [The Swag Remixes EP 2006] Another big influence of mine from around the same time period as Cabinet Records is the Swag crew. The early Primitive stuff blew my mind at the time %28and still does%29. Some of the best use of Drum Kit by anyone on those old records. Hypnotic, danceable and full of bump funk. Combine that Swag excellence in production with this Alice Russell vocal and wow! Discog's link w/ more information 10 - Delarosa & Asora "Paper Rout" Schematic 16 [House Of Distraction LP 2001] I've been going back through some of my older stuff lately, the oddball experimental this time around however. I pulled out several old Schematic compilations and found myself remembering there are some GOOD tracks on those damn things. Expect more in future mixes/shows. Discog's link w/ more information 11 - Compass "Gliding" Plus 8 90 [Cabinet Classics 1994-1998 LP 2006] Another Cabinet track, that smooth gliding mono bass and organ stabs just about give me a full-on. I could definitely go back to hearing this stuff in loud, dark, laser lit rooms. Discog's link w/ more information 12 - A.D.C.L. "Reality Tunnels" Railyard Recordings 03 [The Shadow Boxers EP 2006] Alexi and Cari - both have teamed up quite a bit in the past %28or so my memory tells me%29 and this is a good EP from them once again. The distinct, clear production and the vocals tell me Cari was probably at the helm of this Ep though. If all Alexi contributed was a pleasant work atmosphere and someone to toss ideas at though it would be fine by me. Discog's link w/ more information 13 - Craig Bentley "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat" Robsoul LTD 04 [Deus Ex Machina EP 2006] I almost made the mistake of disregarding this EP based on the track that B-sides this one. I'm glad I wasn't foolish enough to do that, as this track is a tasty little acid number that would see my old feet shuffle towards a booth. Discog's link w/ more information 14 - Neil Landstrumm "Warp 3" Feinwerk 11 [Heavy Makeup EP 2007] I hope Neil never loses that glimmer in his eye, that bounce in his step. If he were to stop making music like this for us I'd be pretty crushed for a while. A refined sense of rhythm and structure. A taste for merging the old and new school together. Awesome. Discog's link w/ more information 15 - Planet Gong "Unification Pt. 1" Djax-Up-Beats 295 [Unification Ep 1998] I don't really remember much about this Ep or the artist. This may have been from the period I kinda stopped keeping track of Djax. They kinda lost the plot for a bit. And have again now...but whatever man. It's a label that has so much momentum it'll probably never die and the law of averages says they're bound to put out some more gold. Another Bleep under our collective belts, another archived chunk of Techno to pass on. For Bleep 55 Mark Hawkins supplied another live-set! If he keeps it up he's going to become the most frequent guest Bleep has. I can live with that. There is no tracklist for this episode of Bleep. Mark performed and recorded this liveset. It is solely his material. You can find more information about Mark, where he's playing and other related bits on his various spots on the net.
