I wish that I could switch to c.d format, but for now I hope that you enjoy and eventually critique and play my choons on your lovely radio station, this is my labour of love and I think I fit in somewhere between the idjut boys and daft punk. thanxs again and remember "punks never sleep"

I am just now discovering this thread, so I'm sorry for the late reply.

Regarding the demo thread this started with:
Yes, I have received it.
Unfortunately, I have absolutely no way to play a cassette tape. I don't own one at all.

I'm sorry, it very much sucks for situations such as this because I understand that independent producers often don't have the budget to afford more. I still have your demo in my laptop bag. If you have a friend who can help you transfer your set to a CD or digital format (mp3/wav) then I can check it out and get it on.


Regarding the rest of the thread:
Yes, it is true that if I am aware of you showing up to the station intoxicated, you will not be allowed to return.
The same goes for anyone who makes an attempt to broadcast profane or obscene material during their set, or who make attempts to endorse commercial entities.

I do realize that, for a club DJ, these kind of rules are not something often encountered. Understand, however, that I have federal and local laws as well as station rules regarding broadcasting to abide by. If you cannot understand and respect those rules and laws, I wish you all the luck in the world in nightclub and party DJing. I will always be willing to list your events on the calendar of fun, but I unfortunately cannot allow you to broadcast.

#1: You are not being discriminated against.
I unfortunately had to make the same decision recently against another local DJ.
It sucks, yes, but its the law, and I'm responsible for enforcing that law for my 4 hours on air.
#2: I'm sorry you have been lead to a misunderstanding, but Shawnna has no such level of authority on Rocket Radio or at KNON, and never has. Her role has only been helping me to maintain my DJ calendar.
#3: You may have been drinking before you arrived, but tried to bring alcohol into the studio, and then proceeded to chug it in the parking lot. I'm all for a good time on a Friday night, but a radio station is not a place to get drunk.

I know it sucks.. Similarly, there are some artists and/or songs I adore that I simply cannot play on air.. (Peaches comes to mind) Fortunately, I have been able to sway a few record labels into getting their artists to make and send me radio edits.. I got a few out of Mindless Self Indulgence recently, and back in 99 I got a clean gabber mix out of DJ Tron..

Do know that even though things worked out the way they did, I can always accept recorded DJ mixes that I will air with proper credit to the responsible DJ... as long as they're clean songs, or have any profanity cut out of them..
