I use it with control vinyl. Hated it the first month or so then grew to love it. The virtual interface is a bit more complex than serato but more fun.

Any limitations on the types of audio files it uses? I'm assuming it can use mp3, wav, etc.

No. It'll play anything you can throw at it.

Have torq /connectiv, use it everyday. Even for live sets, works great. Love it, colored torq records will be coming out in dec, well as update 1.5. vista drivers should be making its way out publicly sometime soon. Connectiv is a nice Asio sound card, even use it for ableton use as well. Overall its nice for its price, cheaper alternative to serato or traktor scratch.

why would one choose Connectiv over Xponent, excluding the price... do you just have to do more with the software if you don't have the extra controls on the controller?

i've used the Xponent before and am looking to buy one or the other and i'd love to save the money on the Connectiv but like the control the Xponent gives you

Connectiv is more like Serato or Final Scratch, Xponent's more like Ableton. At least that's my understanding of the difference in level of control. So it just depends on what you're looking for.

Well I went out and looked at this X Session Pro controller and it's a POS... how do you cue up tracks on something like that? must be a bitch!

if you use the Connectiv with mp3s and the software, how do you cue up files? I can understand it would be easier with the control vinyl though.

I just think the Xponent is easier to use if you're going the mp3 route. You can use the hardware to cue up tracks and just use the software to load up the tracks. I just wish it wasn't $600 vs. $100 for the X Session Pro. The Connectiv is in between but you can't cue up with that.

The software has a pitch control & 'nudge' options to help you beatmatch.

yeah but i want all that to be on the midi controller so i don't have to mess with the mouse to manipulate the software. i just want the software there to be my library.

Well you would have to provide the soundcard for that, can use just about any sound card. Can use your comps headphones jack if u want or if u already have a good external one (that u have used for like recording or midi use etc). Or of course the connectiv.

Its a ok controller if u need something cheap or if just a beginner that wants to mess around. But yea id recommend getting the xponent if u want & will be doing more. Awesome controller to use.

Well you're basically talking about using mouse & the connectiv soundcard vs an actual controller w/ built in soundcard for the program, that would of course do a lot more than one click & drag at a time. Of course if u go with just connectiv, your either gonna use it for external control (with existing TT or CD setup) or use it all internally. And yes u can use just about any midi controller in the market to controller stuff in torq as well.

oh i didn't mean cue as in referring to the headphones, i meant advancing the track to a particular point. with cdjs, i use the jog wheel and then set the cue point and use that point to start the song... with the X Session Pro you don't have a jog wheel and there is no jog wheel on the software so i have no idea how you'd advance the song... i'm sure there is some way to do it on the software but whatever that way is it'd be a pain in the ass probably. i prefer to use the hardware to do that.

okay i went out and bought the Xponent today and hooked it up and this thing is a motherfuckin BEAST! this has everything you would spend at least 1500 to get otherwise with two cdjs plus a mixer separetely. plus the recording function is within the software itself so it's easy to record. i bet you all are excited that i'm going to put together a mix tonight and post it

Connectiv

Been using Connectiv since it's release. At first, there were a few bugs like the pitch correction, but it's been amazing even dealing with the early release. I was attracted to it's price point and the fact that it included 3 built in effects slots and also hosts a third party VST or AU plugin on each deck! The sampler is quite cool too with a ton of neat tricks to be used. One of coolest things I also have to mention is the fact that is can rewire into any major DAW to allow you to record your set or use it as a combo live/dj setup in such programs like Ableton Live. One word : Sexy. Don't forget all the helpful videos you can watch online to help you through the learning curve (Since the box doesn't come with ANY type of manual).
