![]() | CDJ400's - anyone rocked them yet?
i'm starting to do some homework on some upcoming purchases and ran across these lil guys. anyone worked them in studio or live events yet? looks like pioneer's trying the USB route in the low end before hitting the upper tier 1000 market. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FFfoNW1QyQo http://youtube.com/watch?v=OIpIxyG5nrE thoughts? input??

YES! and a OOSBUH flash drive not having to flip through cd's would be cool. step up w/ a couple of drives and that's all she wrote!

2 of them would fit in a record bag. nuff said. new 800 style wheel inna 200 style size is solid. ask soy capaz and dragonman, they got to spin on them at the Dub Assembly-Denton show a month ago. they could give a better review for ya.

no they're not dude, solid as a rock and the jog wheels are awesome, with the pitch on 6% they adjust @ .02%, i'm all about precision and I love em.

they seem very solid, from the little that ive played with them they seem better built than the 200s the new scratch effects are very cool but most of them only cater to top 40 DJs as far as i can tell. i was very gung ho about getting rid of my 1000s for these but there are a few things that bug me. -scratching engine is not yet there... it still sounds digital. the wheel almost seems more sensative and accurate than my 1000s but the actual scratching doesnt sound right... nothing a quick firmware upgrade cant fix though -i am sooooo spoiled with my huge wheel on my 1000s that its hard to go smaller. i can deal with smaller jog wheels but not small touch sensative ones... i ended up having to turn to CDJ mode when i was mixing and just use VINYL mode when doing top 40 stuff. i guess just some getting used to the load times seem a bit faster than the 200s and mk2s (wouldnt be able to say compared to m3s) my bro picked up a pair so i wanna see how the USB interface is with a laptop. that will be the deciding factor of whether i switch over or not. USB 2.0 speeds and even a built in sound card in the 400s so you dont need a external card!!! |

![]() | I got a cdj 400 a month ago. The small wheel does take some getting used to. Something that I was NOT aware of prior to purchasing and after doing plenty of research, is it is not compatable to Mac formatted drives, only PC. Hopefully they'll do something about it in the future. Everything else about the unit is fine. I sold my 200 and put that cash towards the 400. If you move you're gear around a lot these are great because they're small and solid. If not, I say save a bit more and get a 1000MK2. I wish I did.

honestly if your not moving around a bunch then you wouldnt benefit too much from the IPOD control or the small size. so dont get the 400s... the 1000s are proven solid and worthy but dont have half the features of the 400s including USB which is a very big reason people got them in the first place. this is forgetting the fact that the 1000s are twice the price of the 400s @ LIST!! and once the hype on the 400s dies it will be closer to 3 times the price | |

trust the usb function will be incorporated to the 1000 line soon enough.
