midi controller is a midi controller.. I wouldnt spend that much money on one.

The Remote SL has sliders with LED displays for each slider. It is geared for control of VSTi's and/or DAW channels.

The Xstation comes with a synth and USB audio interface built in. The controls are geared for the Synth and the Interface (it has a Mic pre and digital I/O). The synth is similar to the K Station or V Station Softsynth that Novation used to make.

They are 2 different beasts. IMO you can never have too many synth's so the Xstation is a great little keyboard. However, for the price you can't find any other slider controllers w/ LEDs in the price range of the Remote SL. Granted they are smaller sliders than you would get on a Control Surface like a Mackie Control or the new Euphonix one I forget the name of right now.

Either way Novation's physical keyboard controls have always been great. Plastic cases I am not a big fan of but they look cool (the Bass Station was kind of toy like).
