i just got the zoom h4.
includes built in stereo pair of condensor mics (sound decent) and supports xlr/tr line in's (with phantom power!)
supports hi res down to mp3 recording formats.
yay.

takes a little while to get all your settings how you want them but after that it's easy to record. (press record once for levels, twice to start recording)

the only thing i don't like about it is the gain level can only be set to lo, mid, or high.
haven't had a problem with it yet though. runs on batteries or plug.

it can also do 4 channel recording (if you use the built in mics) and has bunch of "studio effects" that i will never ever ever use.

And another one that is a mixer and interface device

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TuneStudio/

And here is the ikey and iConnex devices.

the iKey uses any standard usb drive and can record from a Turntable directly. Phono amp built in..

Dont most any cd burner record exsactly as you mastered the track level wise?

It not so hard to maintain and record as long as your track isnt peaking over what ever program you useing compared to mixing up, a live band recordings, doing mix down etc etc.

Keith, I have the first edition of the M-Audio recorder and I'm pretty happy with it.

It has high-quality 1/4" inputs, and the drag/drop is a piece of cake.

My only issue is input levels. I've had several recordings trashed because of clipping.

However, I read in the link you provided the following:

Upgraded features include extended input gain range analog input limiter

Now, I'm not tech savy so you might want to check with Gilbert,
but if that's what I think it means they might have addressed my only issue.

I've seen a lot of people using this recorder, and most people are happy with it.
