Is ignorance bliss???

I wonder who here thinks edm was more enjoyable when they didn't know how it was made?

Funny question.

I do find myself tearing tracks down to bits in my mind now a days rather than just enjoying the tunage. It takes a severly wickid track for me to just shut the producer side of the brain off and turn on the admiring listener.

Hmmm.....

Very good question.
I guess I still do.
When I hear a track that gets my attention for the first time, I dont break it down. I just "jam" on it for a few days. After I get past the newness of it then I'll start to really look into the track and see what the producers did to make it click.
But I have kinda made it a priority to not be so annalytical of music and just try to enjoy it. I have lots of friends who just cant listen to a track anymore. They still enjoy it but for them most of that enjoyment comes from breaking down the track and applying it to thier own music.

isn't everything more enjoyable when you don't know what the hell it's made of?

I don't understand how listening to the production in a track is not admiring the track itself for some of you :\

I try not to look deeper into it than is needed. This is dance music after all. If the shit makes a dancefloor move, it's a good track IMO. Don't really give a fuck how technically crafted it was. Bottom line is that there are producers who are technically adept and can create these impressive complex tracks but couldn't catch or identify a solid hook if it crawled up there bunghole. Then you have people who aren't the most talented producers, but boy they can identify and properly incorporate a good hook or groove. Those that seem to be able to do both pretty well are the one's who I admire the most and who I strive to emulate.

it hasn't changed my ways. I still listen, still wonder how they make certain sounds. I just tend to lean on the where/when I'm going to use the track.
the more science invovled tends to be boring. this hertz for this leave this at that side chain this turn around four times lift your leg up read this manual pray to baby moses blah blah blah. if the rhythm is strong and it sounds good most likely it will shake the ladies booty and give the dudes that I just smelt some shit being handed to me face.

well i could not sit down and make it myself but i am aware of how sound is manipulated to make tracks. i find it intriguing how we put sounds together in time to trance our minds.

After knowing what it takes to make those noises, yes, ignorance is bliss.
