Is Dancerecords.com going under?

notice there not keeping up with new music from labels that are on most web sites? I had been told, they had some, fall out, with vinyl and distributors .

They have alot of small on one off labels, but just dont seem to have most any the, regular artist and labels.

I always used to order my vinyl from HTFR.com. Dancerecords.com always sold out too quickly for my tastes. It wouldn't surprise me if they were going under but I can't confirm or deny it.

I noticed they started going digital last year (maybe before that I haven't ordered from them in a while).
Maybe they just don't have the resources to keep up with both.
Kinda of a shame, they had decent prices for the most part(compared to satellite records, and a few others).

hats off to them for revolutionizing online sales for the vinyl game. They put a lot of stores outta biz being as good as they were. While they certainly killed off several stores they may have prolonged vinyl for the time they were at its peak. It was a good run, had to end someday, i know Remix has picked up tons of Texas market sales as well as Arkansas & Tenn ,Oklahoma sales. I don't know the details of how it all came to and end with the vinyl side, but at least they're helping the Beatport cast offs and rejects lol. there's a few good labels in there if you look deep enough, but then it all comes down too what you call good.

They are one of the only online stateside websites that stocks banging techno vinyl. I'll be sad if they stop doing their thing as it was six months ago.

Not everyone starts off playing for the Yankees.
Some people have to start out, talent level or not in the minors. Or Even the Pirates. Music artist develop over years. So just cause your not on Beatport means fuck all. There are lots of other music sites that, get more love over all.
To specific type labels, and artists.

I dont think being on dance records, makes you any better or worse than any one.

Its just, away to get started. You know all this with your boys GAP.

Secondly i can name all kinds of players who started off playing for the Yankees at least 4 are in the Hall Of Fame, and one will soon be elected. are we debating baseball and music? WOW!


Bullshit aside that wasn't a slap at you in general or anyone else trying to cut a rug with this dance biz. it was a generalization ...say it with me generalization... to what artist & labels are on there. Frankly they have tons of no name producers trying to get their start , i see nothing wrong with that, they also have several labels and established artist i see. But lets call a spade a spade, none of those unknowns wouldn't cut it on Beatport, which last time i checked, was the recognized leader among download sites for dance music. Blogs aside no one in the biz would dispute their position, who knows what they're talking about.


lastly what does ZE GAP have to do with this? As i recall they had vinyl pressings way before Beatport had their stuff. I bet if you asked them until they sign a deal with a major label like Sony or Universal this is all minor leagues.

edit: i forgot Larry did work for Madge. So Ze GAP has some Major Label experience.

Well cutting it or not, in the bigger labels like say ultra, for example.

How many throw away records & remixes or records have they put out.
Lots of the more established labels, have more than a few duds, from the A-list roster of Artist. Think about some of the obscure vinyl only labels that have nothing to do with any mp3 websites.

And to redirect, Jason. Yes some people do, some people dont start out on the big teams or labels. Some people work,to get there. Others Fade, out and new people come in to fill the ranks. Its all just part of life.

Sure beat port is king of all the dance mp3 stuff. There is still other, sites that have there own exclusives, and underground artist and labels.


Its that, New shit, new labels, new sound that keep it fresh.

i wouldnt go as far to say that, kinda depends on what genre you are looking for. ive owned serato since 2005-06,and i have purchased 0 tracks from beatport

I heard that they went under, too. Eh, I stopped ordering from them a long time ago.
