i saw Swamp at the lounge a few years ago, the shark jumpage included (but was not limited to): -getting on the mic to rap along with his recent studio projects...the tracks still had the vocals in...he just rapped along. like lip syncing, but with the mic volume up. -pouring multiple beers on his head...while rapping -puking next to the dj booth while in the "mix" -selling merchandise on the mic...during the set -letting multiple songs end to silence...while he was walking around rapping with the wireless mic

most commercialized early 90's dance is a major shark jump 4 me. 1 reason i hated dance music as a young adolescent was that tracks like "what is love" & "cotton eyed joe" were popular & i wasn't aware of anything else. of course there's always gonna be more crap associated w/ mainstream stuff, back then i just didn't know there was any difference. that's b4 i discovered edgeclub & the like. | |

![]() | Re: Great moments in DJ shark jumping yeah, im just talking shit for the sake of talking shit. i like some dubstep. as far as musical circles go, i liken it to trip hop of the mid-90's. see above. i will say that while i do like some of it (have even played some on occasion), i stand by the statement that we'll have this talk again in 2 years when everyone is on some other "____step" bandwagon. at the end of the day, every time something with "step" or some form of garage comes around, it's massive, and everybody loves its cock like their name was brianna banks, and then it dissapears and no one talks about it. think i'm wrong? speed garage. craig david. beyond the trip hop thing i said above, do you honestly think dubstep is any different than 2step in terms of longevity?

![]() | Re: Great moments in DJ shark jumping yeah i think the internetz have helped alot w/ gettin different soundz out there. back then if it weren't 4 edgeclub, the occasional mtv amp episode, & of course a badass local underground edm scene i would've never gotten any exposure 2 that kind of music.

One that sticks out for me is Daft Punk agreeing to let Kanye anally rape Harder, Faster, Stronger. I was corralled into a sea of people at Lollapalooza waiting for Daft Punk to come on and some fuckstick next to me says, "I hope they play Kanye's version of Harder, Faster, Stronger." I wanted to smack the shit out of him. |

while i do see your point, and it is a valid one, i think that moment right there was a great one for dance music. the biggest name in hip hop wants to sample that tune and take it to a whole new audience. but then again - enter hipsters.

music was changing. while pre-homework/homework era stuff is the best obviously, you have to be retarded not to acknowledge one more time as one of the greatest tunes in dance music history. i may not like it now, but cheesy as shit or not, i used to kirk over that tune. it defines end of the night.
