what are the best hardware synths

ok, fuck the bullshit software. what's the real deal. I've seen a lot of posts over the years about the right software sequencers, and the right controllers. But I'm of the opinion none of that shit matters if you don't have the right instruments and the right sound to begin with.

What would you reccomend for a first synth for dance? Virus? Korg? Roland? Nord? Oberheim?

Honestly, with all the old school new school talk on the forum lately, I'm tempted to drop down the change for an alesis andromeda. that bitch is fully analogue but with modern controls. You can find some deals now on ebay.

Re: what are the best hardware synths

the "best" hardware synths are all about subjective opinions, and they are all expensive brother.

my advice is to get a synth that has a larger architecture that you can grow into, can do more complex things with, and get more variety over time. A simple but superexpensive analog synth won't get you as much mileage before you need a new one that does something different.

Re: what are the best hardware synths

see, i've kinda got my heart set on the alesis andromeda - as you probably know an analogue synth with all the bells and whistles. You know I know all the technical BS. At least I have my heart set on a real analogue synth. I think that's the real deal as far as EDM goes. No matter what anyone says, I think a real synth blows away any virtual synth. You can definietely grow into that synth. I see some deals on ebay for about a thousand bucks. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger, why not? you only live once.

Re: what are the best hardware synths

check out the Korg MS2000. Reasonably priced and a great beginner keyboard... I love mine.

Re: what are the best hardware synths

I would start with somthing more versatile like a virus or nord. After awhile you may get tired of creating patches and bouncing them to audio. Virus is 16 part multitimbral and even though its isnt real analog it sounds amazing.

I just Bought a Moog Little Phatty ii It is great! Lots of options on this monosynth, and it is super fun. The new one (little phatty ii) has an arpeggiator and a usb port so you can not only take advantage of the 100% analogue synth inside, but also use the keyboard as a polyphonic midi controller.

Did you get the new one? I just picked up the stage one at guitar center for 800 on wednesday. Of course they had the ni komplete 5 on sale for 400 which is crazy cheap for this bundle. Had to pick it up as well.
