This is similar to Redman teaming up with Roni Size...or when NSync were hyping the new sounds of 2step garage. It's a one-off thing and won't stick in America. No worries.

IMO: Dub needs an MC. To me it's friggin hip hop speed, so Im surprised alot of hip hop MCs havent really jumped on that bandwagon. I agree with Scottie also. The mass market will prob distort and dillute the genre.

I know Skream and Benga just did a tune with Pharrell. Also, Benga wrote one of the new singles for the Eve album, and of course Chase and Status are blowing up with Rhianna and Jay Z. It is what it is. People are just trying to get paid. There will still be a less prominent market for the non-mainstream stuff and heightened exposure to this kind of music in top 40 makes it better for musicians and clubgoers alike in the long run. |
