RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY
The Red Bull Music Academy brings together DJs and music producers from diverse musical and cultural backgrounds to exchange their ideas about music and their knowledge of how life in the music industry works.

The two-week term schedules aim to cover all major aspects of DJ culture, including music history, technology and production, business and skills. We invite a variety of accomplished international guests - from industry movers and shakers to pirate radio station operators, from turntablists to sonic theorists - to meet our students and tell their own stories in their own words.

BACKGROUND
The first Red Bull Music Academy took place in Berlin in 1998. 50 DJ/producers from Germany and Austria were chosen to attend 2 fortnightly workshops on music history, technology and business. After two years in Berlin, we moved to Dublin, to New York and then to London, increasing theinternational mix of our students to 28 countries. The purpose of the Academy is to provide a platform for the exchange of musical knowledge and ideas - a familiar atmosphere in which guest lecturers and participants can talk about the experiences and fascinations that make up their musical lives. The participants can also learn a lot from one another, sampling each other's styles and exchanging new ideas and techniques throughout the two weeks they're together.

The Academy doesn't give out any certificates or diplomas, and attending it won't buy anyone a career in the music industry. But it's a valuable experience for everyone; sharing in the successes and failures of the other guests and participants leaving them with a new understanding and approach towards music.

What it is: a unique oppurtunity to learn more about music.

What it isnt: DJ School

There is no cost involved. Applicants are selected and all expenses are paid by Red Bull. Interested applicants can email me at: jwprod@swbell.net for info and I have applications at the club (Seven) and soon at the local record shops.

Do you have to buy your own Red Bulls while at the acadamy or do they get everyone all cracked out on caffiene for free?

My friends back home(in my hometown) are real excited about the Red Bull Academy being there this year in fact there are a lot of top djs who are mailing and phoning clubs/promotors for sets already.Should be a blast and a great bonus already for one of the worlds top Party destinations..
