 | So you think you have what it takes to move a dancefloor? PROVE IT! Seven invites you to show Dallas that you are the best! Open to all DJ’s, ALL GENRES! (must be 18 or over) Grand prize: Trip to Miami, Florida for the Winter Music Conference, Airfare and Hotel, + much more TBA 2nd Prize: $250.00 Gift Certificate to Guitar Center Here’s how it works: Come by Seven beginning Friday August 22nd. During normal business hours, Fri, Sat, and Sun 10p – 4am Fill out an entry form provided at the front door and drop it in the box. Contestants will be drawn weekly beginning Friday September 12th. 2 contestants will be drawn each week, with the exception of “break week”; Oct. 31st. Competition begins on September 19th. And will run til December 12th, with a finals competition on Jan 2nd, 2004. Contestants drawn on Sept. 12th must be available to perform on September 19th. Those drawn on the 19th must be available to perform on September 26th and so on until bracket “A” is completed, October 24th 2003. Bracket “B” will commence on November 7th and contestants will be drawn at random from exisisting entry forms. You can enter as many times as you want until December 5th, 2003 Competition will be as follows: 1) Each contestant will have 1.5hrs to perform. 2) You will be judged on your programming, technical skills, crowd appeal and overall performance. 3) 2 contestants will be drawn each Friday to perform the following Friday. Contestants are drawn at random, and this will correspond to the slot you will perform, i.e.: if you are drawn first, you will be the first to perform. Performance times are as follows: 10pm- 11:30, 11:30 – 1 am. 4) No special equipment can or will be implemented for your performance. You must be comfortable with 3 Technics model 1200 turntables, A Urei model 1620 rotary mixer, and a Denon or Pioneer CD Player. WE WILL NOT MAKE ADJUSTMENTS. 5) Contestants will be judged by a panel consisting of DJ’s and Club/ Music industry professionals. Contestants will be scored on programming, technical skills, crowd appeal and overall performance. 6) Winners of nightly competition will secure a spot in the quarterfinals, on October 17th. The 2 highest scored contestants from October 17th will advance to the bracket “a” semifinals on October 24th. Bracket “B” begins Friday Nov. 7th, with quarterfinals on Friday December 5th and semifinals on Friday December 12th. *** Quarterfinals sets will be limited to 45 minutes*** The winners of bracket “a” and “b” will compete in the Finals on Friday Jan. 2nd, 2004. 7) Prizes will be awarded to first and second place. 8) If for any reason, you are unable to perform on your specified date, you will forfeit your spot and not be allowed to re-enter. The only exception is if you are selected and when contacted by us, you advise us upfront that you are unable to perform. Only in this instance will your entry be returned to the drawing pool. 9.) It is advised that you bring as many of your supporters as you can. You will be judged in a large capacity on crowd appeal and being able to maintain a dance floor. 10.) All selected contestants must arrive at the club no later than 9:30 pm on the night they are to perform. If you are late or fail to show, you will forfeit your spot. 11) Contestants found abusing equipment, or displaying any behaviour that is deemed unprofessional will have their performance terminated and be removed from the premises and their spot will be forfeited. 12) Employees and former employees of Seven, One, M2, Red Bull, Camel, KBA are not eligible to enter. 13) Contestants will abide by all rules of the club and of the competition. so sign up begins 8/22/03 and ends 12/05/03 - you can drop your name in tha box anytime in the above mentioned dates to be a possible contestant - then wait to see if your name gets drawn ***just wanted to make sure I'm reading things correctly!!
