1210 = UK/Europe

1200 = US/CA

M3d = no quartz lock

Mk2 = quartz lock

everything is pretty much the same, the 1210 has a different voltage because it's for Europe.

well some of the 1200 mk2's do not have the quartz lock, but some do. the 1210's come in black, and i think you might be able to find them in silver. the 1200 come in grey and i know you can find them in black also, but you will have to look a little harder, not that it is hard to find them in black. m3ds hold the pitch better, and they have a reset button for the quartz lock. well i guess that would make them have the quartz lock, but not the ball bearing in the middle of the pitch control. okay that is all i can think of.

one luv,
joseph n.

All of the Mk2's have quartz lock, unless you get it taken out.

Hey Boys & Girls~

Hope this helps the confusion

All current SL-1200 Models have the Quartz lock..!

The 1200/1210MK2 only quartz Locks when the pitch fader is at "0"

The 1200/1210M3D and 1200/1210MK5 models have a REMOTE button which will activate the Quartz Lock no mattar where the pitch fader is along its path

ALOT of my clients have me disable the Quartz Lock feature on the MK2,
or I can install a REMOTE switch like on the M3D / MK5

There really is no reason for a Quartz Lock on a DJ turntable as you lose control of Pitch when the Quartz Lock is enabled...platter speed is instead controlled by reference vibrations from a 4.193MHz oscillator, thus the "Dead Zone" which occurs between -1 & 1....not to mention that is usually causes a a DOUBLE ZERO POINT between true zero on the pitch scale and the Quartz Locked Zero Point

So, the Quartz Lock really does throw off your mixes....!!

Get yours Disabled, or put on a Remote switch TODAY!!

http://www.turntabletech.com/mechmods.htm

the addition of the REMOTE switch caused TECHNICS to introduce the SL-1200 M3D - the first really new TECHNICS since 1979.

Click below for a History of the TECHNICS SL-1200 Model

have fun!

in layman's terms, i think what revolution's saying is that all the 1200s have the quartz lock capability. the key thing is that the m3d (and i guess the mk5 but i havent played w/ that one yet) does not have the zero click annoyance. you can modify the mk2's to get rid of the click, but definitely only do it if you know what you're doing - those are expensive and very sensitive puppies!

one model has the recessed power button (the mk5's, i think), which is nice if you tend to accidentally hit the power button while spinning (doh!).

i find that the m3d's hold the pitch a little better than the mk2's, but the mk5's are the shit, they hold pitch like the m3d's and have a 8 and 16% pitch adjust, for those who like it fast!!

that is an incorrect statement. the reason i say this, is because i have a friend that has a set of 1200 mk2's that do not have the quartz lock at all. they have a smooth glid right down the pitch control, and no he didn't get it taken out, or disabled, i asked him. actually now that i think about it i have played on two sets of tables that didn't have it, and they were mk2 1200. just wanted to point that out. not all of them have come with it.

one luv,
