Avoid using SoundForge/CoolEdit for splitting

If you use a normal audio recording software like SoundForge (which is bad ass) to slip tracks for you CD you could have problems. You need to split up your WAV file in 2352 byte partitions or else you will hear a small "skip". This is because CDs are divided up into sectors which are 1/75 of a second long. If your track isn't cut on exactly 1/75 of a second increments, then the CD burning software will have to "round off", causing skips in continuous mix CDs. You can use a program like CD Wave to get a more professional track splitting.

That is good info, but Ive never experienced this in wavelab. I think Wavelab is far and away the best recording program out there. IMO.

I highly suggest CD Architect.
You can put your whole mix in there and track it without cutting it into seperate tracks.

Been using it for a while!

PS. . if you use Soundforge and save your tracks as .mp3's they will have tiny gaps everytime! . . something about the way soundforge saves .mp3's vs .wav's . . *shrug*

good thread! ! !

No, you can set breaks in your tracks using Nero. It's how I break up my rave cds.

I can't tell you the specifics because I'm not in front of our studio machine. But you can do it. It's very easy.

I'll post the instructions on how to do it if I think of it later on.

Load the .wav file or mp3 file....

right click the file, in the first Track Properties tab set the pause to 0 seconds.

Then click on the Index, Limits, and Splits tab....

In the wav editor hit the Split button where you want the new tracks to begin.

When its all done click OK.

Click Disk At Once.

Burn.

Easy stuff.

Um, or are you asking a different question.

Nope, I mistakenly missed it. Sorry about that.

That's really good info, BTW. Sounds like it might be a bit easier than using SoundForge in conjunction as you don't have to do any exporting and what-not.

I picked up Cakewalk Pyro 2003 at a discount and it works much like audio surgeon in that you just open the file under audio edit where you can then drop track markers wherever you want them, magnify the track etc.... So far this method has produced some seamless cd's. I do have to warn though that it's gotten a little buggy when using the audio mix for making a cd function.... and support still hasn't contacted me back.

I concur with phooka, CD Architect is by far the best, if not easiest.

You got to the reply button before I got back to the thread.. .. .. I recently started using Nero Express and have not needed to cut up a cd but these same options are not as obvious in that version
