![]() | making a cd....
i'm making a cd and to get straight to the point, i want it to be more than your standard cd allows, i.e. 74-80 minuites.... does ANYONE know of any type of cdr that would allow more time than the norm. i don't care if it's professional grade (actually, i'd probably prefer if such thing exists), and i'm not overly concerned with cost. i'm wanting to get a FULL 80-90 minuites. any help will be appreciable.... J

There is a 90 minute CD-R available, however I believe they are more expensive than the general commercial grade 74 or 80 minutes blanks. You would also need a burner which would support overburning...most commercially available are only set for 80 minute max discs. One other thing to think about, but I'm not sure about, is will the 90 minute disc play in most everybodie's cd player. If the people can't listen to it, there's no real point to it. DVD Audio would be your only other option to expand past the 80 minute mark, but again you have the problem about people listening to it. Sure they may have a DVD player in house which would play it, but they couldn't listen in car, etc. Also, the media would be quite expensive. |

i've read of some major incompatibilities in discs over 80min i would advise against using them. http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware...d_cd-r99.shtml if you *must* have that extra time the best bet would be to make a DVD. Last edited by moshen; 12-14-03 at 09:49 PM. |

the only question i have now would be are these 90 minuite discs offered in a CDRW format...? the minidisc option was considered. i only know ONE person who has a car minidisc receiver, so that's a no-go. i think i am going to try and hunt down some of these 90 minuite cdr's and buy in a small quantity just to test them out in different car/home stereo systems... thanks once again for all the help! ![]() Jamie

The thing with MD anyway, is to get more than 74 minutes, you have to go mono, which to me isn't worth it. I don't know you at all, but damn is that extra 10 minutes really gonna impress anyone that significantly? If you need to go longer than 80 minutes, you might as well just make it an MP3 CD, because more people will be able to hear that in more places than either DVD or MD. I know alot of car headunits can play MP3s now, even my home system will play MP3 CDRs, and you could put several hours on there, if your DJ-opus requires it. You'd get more listenership even just online from a longer-than-80-minute MP3 file thank from MD or DVD audio. Have you just considered doing a double CD? You'd have to plan some knid of bridge between the 2 discs, but it could be done. Just a thought. |
