Help w/ the virus

I just bought the virus. I'm new to midi and I need help hooking the virus up. I have a USB midi controller that is connected to my PC. Do I need to get a midi hub that connects to my Delta 2496?

Thanks for the help.

The audiophile 24/96 has one midi i/o on it. There is a removable dongle that came with the card.

Did you buy the desktop or rack Virus?

OK... I just found the dongle in the box. I've had the 2496 for six months now, so forgot the dongle even came with it. I bought the desktop off of ebay. This is my first piece of hardware for my studio.

Solarize is bootleg
I've never been able to get my jp-8080 working through my speakers. I got a usb midiman and I recently got the 2496 and hooked it straight up to the midi ports but to no avail. I've tried different software like Cakewalk, Fruityloops, and Cubase SX. Either I'm not hooking it up right or I don't have the settings right in the software. I'm sure it's something retarded that's not configured correctly.

Hook me up with some midi knowledge stan

btw the virus is a choice synth...that's what I wanted before I found this 8080

It sounds like you're not hooking it up right. You wont hear anything with just midi. You need to plug audio cables into your sound card to hear it.

lift: just plug the midi cable to the midi in/outs and audio cables to the audio in/outs from your virus to your Delta. You'll have to select your your USB controller as the midi input and the Delta as the midi output on your sequencing software to play it with your keyboard.

Glad you got it working, sorry I didn't check back till now.

I know you don't want to hear this, but I'd scrap the USB midiman. Transfering audio data through USB is decent at best. You're gonna run into latency problems as well as a slew of other problems down the line. Your studio is only as good as your weakest link, and USB anything in a studio is going you be your weakest link.

Food for thought.

The midiman is a midi device not an audio one. Some people have latency with it, others don't. As far as usb, usb2 will be faster than firewire-iiee. Usb controllers from midiman, like the oxygen and radium, both work very well interms of latency and I would recommend them both.

I agree. I use the Radium 61 key USB controller and I don't have any latency issues with it.
