As I approached the corner of Hollywood and Vine, there was a small red carpet set up, not really a path leading to the door, but a photo op just the same. I was given a glitzy mask adorned with a fringe of bright pink feathers. The men were given black satin masks. Some of the partygoers were decked out in a theme of corsets and elaborate fantasy make-up and proudly wore their masks. Others were drinking cocktails at their bottle-service tables. At around 11p.m., people started to anticipate the fashion show and the bodies started accumulating and pressing up behind the scattering of VIP chairs surrounding the runway. The launch event was featuring a lingerie fashion show with lines from Le Bra Lingerie and Letters of Marque. Le Bra carries the latest designs by: Eres. La Perla, La Perla Men, Roberto Cavalli, and other prestigious designers. Actress and Urban icon, Stacey Dash, Model/UK Television Personality, Lady Victoria Hervey, and top designer Jennifer Issa head Letters of Marque.
A pulsing dance beat prompted the models, decked out in barely-there bra and panty sets. They strutted down the runway with all eyes glued to them. The models from Uber-Warning Agency looked more like exotic creatures complete with long, electric colored eyelashes and artfully placed metallic powder. A few whistles and comments could be heard, but much of the crowd was in silent awe despite the blaring dance tunes. Next, the models got a bit more covered up in amazing couture and Victorian white wigs. The crowd was a diverse mix of young hipsters (friends of the models and designers, no doubt), entertainers on the verge of their big break, people there just to dance, and mature, fashionable, cultured individuals more interested in seeing the clothes than in being seen themselves. Besides taking the scene in, I was doing my duties as the CP Photographer. Various people kept coming up to me to take their photo, telling me they were so-and-so but I did not recognize them - guess I am not as media-savvy as a true Hollywood socialite.
Everyone seemed to be smiling, drinking, and having a great time. Just as quick as it had begun, at 1 a.m. people started filtering out, myself among them. As I walked through the velvet ropes, I witnessed someone denied entry and the words "private party" fall from the bouncer's mouth. I myself went home while the other fabulously dressed jet setters streamed past me, off to another private party no doubt. Link To Original Article |
