![]() | Eight Lounge, Friday 22nd: Kelly Reverb
I had the best night of the year so far at 8 Lounge this past friday night. Staff: Plentiful, service oriented and non obtrusive. Decor: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, but not overdone. I could not have done a better job myself. It's as though they picked my favorite design elements and tweaked them to work in a bar/club. They are also constantly updating the look from what I hear, so it will never get "old." Layout: The club/bar, is centeres around the most important elements, the Bar and the music. Plenty of room to dance if you want to, or just to relax with friends on some great looking comfy furniture. Crowd: Mixed. Very mixed. First reaction is "pretty" but not overdone. 99% of the crowd is not "dressed to impress"just dressed nicely. I only saw 2 girls there I would consider "overdone." Vibe: Laid back, yet happy and upbeat. This had a lot to do with such a choice dj, and a great mix of people. Music: PRIME. Kelly Reverb plays on Friday nights, he is one of the most accomplished DJ's Dallas has put forth to date. Kelly is a professional who knows how to work a crowd with ease. He would play the latest and greatest underground tracks then ease into one or two Dance-able hip hop tracks, with such a diverse crowd, this kept everyone moving all night long. I barely even noticed the hip-hop as it was kept at a minimum. It was a dance music DJ set, played well, to a diverse crowd who accepted all he played freely. This DJ really knows how to work a room, and if you haven't seen him in a while, or ever at all, I suggest you check him out soon. Overall, I give the space 9 out of 10 stars. Maybe they should rename it 9. |

It's nice to see a venue in town open up that truely cares about it's patrons. Each customer is treated as a guest in someone elses home, and made to feel very comfortable. I saw it happen not only for me, but for others around me. All the staff was so friendly, it was as though they actually LIKED their jobs! It's always nice to meet people that don't have their heads up their own (or anyone elses') asses. Dress code is enforced, but well worth it. Once you see\experience the venue for yourself, you'll understand why. Great things will come out of this location! -Stacia Last edited by Eminent; 05-24-04 at 01:10 PM. | |
