I'm interested to hear about what I missed. I'll try not to be too bitter.

ok, heres a complete rundown on the two pics. thanks to kai..

"1st pic from far left of the circle wrapping around counterclockwise (in the foreground): schizo (white bandana), abyss (red shirt with cam), mikeyp (black shirt, grey shorts), mcgig (blue hat, black shirt), ??? (white with the E shirt on, cant tell who it is), some raver girl in the middle, helmetjap4 (blue shirt, asian guy), miron (beige striped shirt)

in the background starting from the left is myself (black everything), falsify (black button up, white driver), and houdoken (black driver, checkered/plaid shirt)"

ive met 3/4 of them before but damnit! i wanted to meet mikeyp and miron something fierce.... cant wait for more pics thatll include lpc, abm, boogie knightz, and other crews..... (most of the crew in those pics are from missouri btw)

dL *hearts* DETROIT!

Just got back last night and recovering from the weekend. An Amazing time! highlights of the festival in no particular order:

Ron Trent - (droppin deepness on a higher level, played jamie principle, fingers, prescriptiony house songs, and even Altered States, his very first tune he released when he was only 15 yrs old! pretty and beautiful and very chill!

Novamen - dutch electro funk from Ingmar and Overdose. They also played a dope LIVE set at the afterparty with Ultradyne who destroyed the small little peavey speakers they had to perform on. :P

Duplex LIVE - the dutch techno defenders of the deep. despite their sampler breaking and having a ton of technical problems before they started, they managed to deliver a supurb set of their own music utilizing what they had and a little backup instrument called Ableton LIVE.

Kevin Reynolds LIVE - Transmat's manager and A&R with a set of his own tunes, brilliant stuff and a wonder he hasn't released anything yet since his own music is far better than some of the recent things heard on Transmat in recent years. His set was dedicated to his brother who died in Iraq. You could feel the heart he put into it.

Aardvarck & All Out K - dope chill sets from both Christiaan and Mike Kivits...played tons of techno classics too like Balil - Nort Route and La Funk Mob remixes by Carl Craig...sweet deepness on a chill monday afternoon.

Kai Alce from Atlanta (fun fact: he's Chez Damier's cousin) played a great set of deep house and 80's classics including some Emergency Records jams...really impressive dj and everyone needs to check out his music too! best new house artist to emerge this year with dope records on Moodymann's Mahogani Music and Trackmode.

afterparties:

Friday night after driving around Detroit looking for the 7th City party, we found it to be packed and a huge line not worth getting stuck in. not even place to park so we caught John Arnold and Ayro LIVE at The Works... dope shit! these guys do justice to the word LIVE PA...excellent skills on the keys from jeremy Ellis (Ayro) and John Arnold was brilliant tapping beats on the MPC and playing his Guitar improvising the whole time. Also Recloose's dj set was tha shit! played the Yam Who joints and lots of other disco/funk goodies...amazing!

Monday night the highlight of the whole trip! UR LIVE. words cannot even express the emotion and feeling in that room when Mike Banks played LIVE with Timeline...UR played all their classics and even versions of Numbers and Clear URified...made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and is now the best performance I have ever seen in my LIFE...even tears came down when they played the Final Frontier and Hi-Tech Jazz. if only you all were there you would know exactly what i have trouble describing.

peace to all the souldiers out there and hope to see you out and about at some point this summer. also if you get a chance pick up last week's issue of The Observer. A little piece on us that was for the most part on point, but the press never gets it right all the way.

dL

here's mine that i posted on www.undergroundhouse.net

Quote:
My Stories....

well.. for the most part, my city is pretty much deep house and jungle... mostly jungle... so my intent was to OD on techno seeing as it'll be forever before i can hear it again.

the underground stage was the most sick sound i had ever FELT.... you heard right... that's not a typo. That was the kinda sound that you could FEEL... yet still talk to the person next to you.

On Sunday, Jooris Voorn dropped plenty of rockin' tracks! But the most beautiful thing downstairs was watching (on Saturday) some girl decide that she didn't need to wait for the line for the bathrooms and decided to go ahead, squat, drop her pants and start a stream.... she was stopped mid-stream by the po-po... then, sunday... we saw a repeat... same spot... dif't girl... same scenerio...

Saturday, for me, was spent mostly drunk, waiting thru the bathroom lines b-c none of my friends seem to be able to go to the bathroom by themselves. I also got into a fight as someone decided that they were gonna be more man than me by calling me a fag. Chances are, they'll never call another person a 'fag' without being prepared to scrap at least. So, me + a fifth of tequila + someone trying to call me out = fight.
be prepared.

Sunday was more calm, for my crew tho. Aside from walking out on the Ponchatrain's resturant for their half cooked food, ill prepared sandwiches, sloppy service, we got busted doing so when 2 of my friends HAD to go back in to piss.... so then we spent 30 minutes discussing (and i use that term losely) the situation with the manager. After using the tried-and-true "if we were executives, you'd have been more prepared, taken more time, and not treated us with such imputence", we got the meal half off and a round of free drinks... which sent us on the downward spiral that concluded at the TRONIC party...

The Tronic party was bootleg by the most -dirty raver- of standards... small hole-in-the-wall dive club... soudn was horrible... lighting was horrible... but everyone i knew from Indy that i expected to see there were there... so we took over a corner and took over the second room once the Indy Dj (Adam Jay) got on the decks... pretty soon, we had immigrants wanting to migrate to Indy... i guess it didn't hurt having 2 girls with Tig o' Bitties dancing around in tight ass slut gear and making out....

Oh, and more than half of advertised DJs of the Tronic party didn't show. That makes 2 years in a row, bootleggers! Next time, they'll be mace involved.

Getting lost in Dearborn Michigan, however, is not a good sign. I seriously went thru a pack o cigarettes asking the only people who were up that late/early for directions.... the homeless....

it was rough... but worth it.

Terrance Parker has bothered me of late b-c of his incessant need to "preach" to us with his records.... what Xians don't realize is that your faith exudes from your sets when yo uTRULY believe... there's this trance Dj in Cincy named Nauti-Groove (yeah yeah yeah, stoopid name, i know)... but he is a rather hard-core God-loving man. And you can feel it in his sets. You feel it when you meet him. You feel it on the dancefloor. He doesn't need 23 records spelling out Christianity to you. Terrance Parker would do well to learn from a guy like NGroove. Oh well.
He also managed to grab two vocalists who had a hard time hittingtheir notes and managed to ask us 100 times "are you ready"...? yes, dammit.. now sing! sing or put the fuckin' mics down!

In the main stage "pit", if you will, we managed to catch a fingering session and a dry-hump-to-orgasm session. i practically pissed ona couple making love in the bushes b-c i was too drunk to make it back to the hotel to pee in time...

got stuck in one of the elevators in the Ponchatrain (that hotel is bootleg like a muh'fucka)

and of course, there's www.iamsickandtiredofwhitegirls.com (yes, i have a t-shirt!!!!)

that's all i can think about now... if anything else pops into memory, i'll be sure to post... (i'm sure i have some friend that was sober enough to remember something that i'm forgetting)

2001 was fun as hell!
2002 was even better
2003 was booger like a mug!
2004 made up for last year for sho'!

i can't wait for 2005.
