Mist @ Afterlife

OMFG!!!
I had never heard Mist spin before so I was really looking forward to tonight. Good god he tore shit up. If I had to describe it in one word it would be fucking relentless. Ok, so that’s two words…whatever.
He wasn't kidding when he said that he likes to get his aggression out behind the decks.
I will definitely be checking him out at some of his upcoming gigs.

i went both nights, and the music was great (for the most part) both nights.
friday the guy who spun before jeff spock was fantastic. he was pulling of some real hard tricks and making them sound easy & smooth as hell.
jeff's set was great too, but i really wasn't digging the shit he started his set off with, maybe thats just me. but when he picked up the pace and started dropping some heavier beats that shit was rad.
los hip hop guys fucking tore shit up!! they were fucking great, they threw down so many of my favorite tracks. mad props to them.
honestly i dont remember much after that, i stopped paying attention to the music during huggiebears set cuz i wasn't feelin his style and i was busy meeting people.

saturday whoever was spinnin trance when i got there @ a bit before 1 was fuckin bad ass, i dont know who it was though.
shams, as usual, was totally rockin tha place, but i'm not used to seeing him spin anything thats not purely hard, so it kinda threw me for a loop.
mal1ce's set fuckin went off, IMO probably the best set i heard all weekend. he was playing some straight hard ass bangin ass shit.
mist (as was expected) was off the fuckin hook. i could've done without the crazy guy drumming on the bucket (???) cuz it kinda took away from his mixes, but he was still bad ass. my only one complaint is that for a portion of his set it seemed like he played track-by-track the show he did on the edgeclub. but even so, that shit was fuckin crazy.
once again, i stopped paying attention after mist cuz thats who i really went to see.
and to all the DDMers i met, what's up y'all, you are all very kool (and quite crazy) peeps. it's good to finally be able to start putting faces behind names.
but over all, i had a great time both nights up there, just like i knew i would. sorry for the long ass post

Mist is a badazz!! I liked the guy playing the buckets. I got to talk to him for a bit and he's a kool kat! He played without knowing what track was being played, that's talent dude. Charlie tore it up also, i agree best set i've ever heard from him. Shamz was great as always. Trent threw down hardcore. Friday the Los Hip Hops Guys rawked my world!!! Hip Hop + Phil Collins?? Fucking great! Afterlife is getting better and better each weekend it's open. If you haven't gone yet, stop by and see what you think. The vibe is excellent and the music is great. RINGEL!! I you!! Your cd is awesome!

Spinning at Afterlife was fun, it was a lil hot in there but its cool to see people get down to one of our sets. I always have fun when I kick it with Travis, nice meeting new people from the board.

Is it just me or is there something bit fishy about that place. I felt like someone was watching me, and some of the people were, well.... fake kind of. Like people acting like they were rolling when it was blatently obvious they weren't. Rolling isn't cool in the first place, so why have people pretending and shoving glowing balls in your face? Maybe to attract kids that just want to get f**cked up. Make it about the music, not the drugs. I walked in that place and knew I had just stepped into a shithole crack house. It was the biggest waste of my time and money so far. This place seemed even trashier heaven.

HAHHAHA you're funny! What time did you go? Did you go saturday? Cause when i went back at around ten sunday i felt the vibe was different. People acting like the were rolling? Alright. Afterlife is a nice place to chill, listen to music and hang out with friends. Heaven was a shithole crackhouse, Afterlife is nothing like that. If you'd like to try it again, i'll be there after the zen preparty. We could hang out! Maybe you'll have more fun. Hit me up on aim or something we can talk But please, don't base your opinion on one night!

i've only not been to afterlife maybe 5 or 6 weekends since they opened in february, and i think you got a pretty warped perception of the place. the music is better than heaven, the vibe is better, the people are better, the club is set up better, and it isn't a crackhouse. at heaven i had people coming up to me offering me g & ice & crack & blow & all sorts of nasty shit, that's what contributed to it being a crackhouse. at afterlife you MIGHT have a guy or two offer you some rolls, but what club in this area doesn't have that? i encourage you to give afterlife another chance, i've been there dead sober plenty of times and it's not as bad as you say it is.

the reason i failed to pay attention to your set was because if i'm not mistaken, you played after fabian. i cant stand fabian's style of house. it gives house music a bad name. i dont doubt that he's a great dj, but that shit just kills me. so anyways, sorry for overlooking you, i'll be sure to give you my undivided attention next time i go (which should be saturday)
