![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I went...
Unfortunately, this party was not representative of what Cybertribe has done in the past. At the last minute (Friday morning), the DEA told the Arkansas State Fairgrounds that if they allowed a rave to take place there that night... they would be completely responsible for anything that took place. So... the party was moved. AND as we all know... when a venue changes.. things get messed up. The alternative venue was a straight up warehouse... with no venilation or AC. It was so hot in there... dangerously hot... which is why 4 (or more?) people were CARRIED out of the main hall... they seemed to be victims of heat stroke. The air was so thick, it was impossible to breathe... you could see the moisture in the air... it looked like fog... but there were no fog machines. Despite the adverse conditions... D:Fuse spun a bad ass set... and DJ Irene went off... I THINK Simply Jeff spun for about 15 mins... Before the party was shut down around 1:45 a.m. George Acosta never went on... and honestly, I doubt that he would have. It was SO HOT... it was dangerous! I give tons of respect to the DJ's who did spin! I heard Irene was dripping sweat on the records... and she had to keep blowing the sweat off the records! It was so sad to see something that was once so good... go down like that... it was so sad. I just wanted to cry. I ponder if Cybertribe will continue on... in case you didn't hear, Chaos is no longer with Cybertribe. BUT like I said... this was NOT typical of Cybertribe...

I have since been to the Lucky to Luv message board... And I found out that one boy died that night... his temperature was 109. I would bet that he died from heat stroke. Tragic. The worst part... is that it could have been prevented. I kept telling the security to open some doors... etc... because someone would die of heat stroke. How was I to know how right I would be. This is one time I wish I wasn't right. That was Cybertribe's last party. Very sad.

ChickenMan and I almost drove out to Little Rock for that party, but changed our minds at the last minute. Now I'm kinda glad we didn't go, but I'm still really sad to hear how the party turned out. I'm not laying all the blame on the DEA, but if they hadn't pulled their facist scare tactics once again, then that kid would still be alive. It also brings to light how the promoters are at least partially responsible for the safety of the partygoers, and how important adequate ventilation is. All in all, it's really sad to see CyberTribe end not with a bang but with a whimper. Best of luck to all the kids in Little Rock.
